A Dream Filled Musical Season

Theyre Playing Our Song kicks off Stages season
Stages St. Louis explores the American dream through fame, success, and family during its 28th season of musical theater. The 2014 season hits its first note May 30 and runs through Oct. 5, 2014. The season kicks off with Theyre Playing Our Song, a song-filled love story based on one of the most prolific American song-writing teams of the 20th century. It continues with the Pulitzer Prize-winning How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, a true pursuit of the American Corporate Dream. The grand finale is the Tony Award-winning Fiddler On The Roof, the definitive musical about reaching for the American Dream. In addition, the 2014 season Theatre for Young Audiences production will feature Disneys Sleeping Beauty. May 30 - June 29 Theyre Playing Our Song Theyre Playing Our Song is inspired by the real life love story of Academy Award-winning composer, Marvin Hamlisch (The Way We Were, The Sting) and Grammy Award winning lyricist Carole Bayer Sager (Thats What Friends Are For, Nobody Does It Better ). In the musical, meet Vernon, a neurotic, witty composer and Sonia, a wacky, free-spirited lyricist who form an unlikely partnership to write the next great love song. A rocky and hilarious start leaves them struggling to find their creative harmony and romance was definitely not what they were expecting! Topping off the jazzy score is a laugh-a-minute book by Tony Award winner Neil Simon (Barefoot in the Park, The Odd Couple). July 18 - Aug. 17 How To Succeed in Business

Without Really Trying Big business means big laughs in this delightfully clever lampoon of life on the corporate ladder. A tune-filled comic gem that took Broadway by storm winning both the Tony Award for Best Musical and a Pulitzer Prize, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying boasts an exhilarating score by Frank Loesser including I Believe in You, Brotherhood of Man, and The Company Way. Bustling with humor, romance and song, this swingin 60s send-up of Madison Avenue charts the spectacular rise (in record time!) of an ambitious young window washer to vice president of advertising Sept. 5 - Oct. 5 Fiddler On The Roof One of the most touching creations in the history of Broadway, Fiddler On The Roof exudes a warmth and humor unlike any other American Musical. Set in politically tumultuous 1905 Russia, Tevye the milkman must adjust to the changing world around him, as each of his five daughters move further away from spiritual tradition. An inspiring and universal tale of heritage, love, and acceptance, Fiddler On The Roof features such heartfelt and beloved songs as Sunrise, Sunset, If I Were A Rich Man, and

Matchmaker, Matchmaker. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical, this musical masterpiece will last forever in audiences hearts! June 18 June 29 Disneys Sleeping Beauty Following in the footsteps of Disneys Cinderella, Stages brings another beloved princess to glorious life in Sleeping Beauty. Born into a wondrous world of beauty, song, and privilege, sweet Princess Aurora cannot escape the spell cast upon her by the evil sorceress Maleficent. By sunset on her 16th birthday, the young princess is fated to prick her finger on the cursed spindle and fall into a long deep slumber, only to be awakened by true loves kiss. With a little hocus-pocus from the enchanted wands of the adoring fairies Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, the spellbound Prince Phillip rescues his love and all their dreams come true. Stages St. Louis performs in the 377-seat Robert G. Reim Theatre at the Kirkwood Community Center, 111 S. Geyer Road. Each mainstage production will run for a total of five weeks with matinee and evening performances Tuesdays through Sundays. The Theatre for Young Audiences performs Tuesday

through Sunday for two weeks. Subscriptions to the 2014 Season begin at $99. Single tickets will go on sale April 7. Single ticket prices range from $20 to $57. For more information or to purchase tickets call 821-2407 or visit www.stagesstlouis.org.
