On September 1, 2009, one month after I joined Scribd, I wrote a piece, “7 Little Known Secrets for Making Money and Saving the World on Scribd.” When I found Scribd, I felt like I’d discovered buried treasure and wanted to share my good fortune. More than 3,000 of you read the article and many left helpful comments. I’d like to share some additional things I’ve learned since then. I look forward to your comments and thoughts. What’s worked for you on Scribd? What ways have you found to make money and make a difference in the world?

First, let me provide some context about me and how I came to Scribd. I’m married, have 5 grown children and 11 grandchildren. For the last 44 years I have been a psychotherapist who specializes in helping men and the women who love them. My life goal is to help people live long and well. I have been writing books since my first, Inside Out: Becoming My Own Man, was published in 1983. When Male Menopause was published in 1997, it struck a chord with people throughout the world and was soon published in 25 foreign languages. Since then four other books have been published including The Irritable Male Syndrome and Male vs. Female Depression.

What’s worked for you on Scribd? What ways have you found to make money andmake a difference in the world?First, let me provide some context about me and how I came toScribd. I’m married, have 5 grown children and 11 grandchildren. For the last 44 years I have been a psychotherapist who specializesin helping men and the women who love them. My life goal is to helppeople live long and well. I have been writing books since my first,
Inside Out: Becoming My Own Man
, was published in 1983. When
Male Menopause
was published in 1997, it struck a chord with peoplethroughout the world and was soon published in 25 foreignlanguages. Since then four other books have been publishedincluding
The Irritable Male Syndrome
and
Male vs. FemaleDepression.
Although I love writing, the world of publishing has been frustratingfor me. It’s a real hassle getting a book idea from conception tocompletion. Once I get an idea I develop an outline, then a full blownbook proposal. Next, I go over it with my agent. Once it is ready hesends letters to potential publishers. Then, I wait and hope and praythat an editor will want to sign me to a contract, give me an advance, and agree to publish the book when I’ve finished writing it.

I could go on, but my point is that it’s a long ways from me to thereading public—too long. I’ve always dreamed of being able to getmy thoughts to readers quickly, get their feedback and enter adialogue about how we can work together to make a better world. That’s why I was so excited when a friend told me about Scribd. It took me awhile to understand how Scribd and I could partner to make money and make a world of difference, but once I did I wasoff and running. Here’s what I’ve learned:1.Join Scribd and see the world.Scribd is the largest social publishing company in the world, theWebsite where tens of millions of people each month publish anddiscover original writings and documents. On Scribd, you can quicklyand easily turn nearly any file—including PDF, Word, PowerPoint andExcel—into a Web document and share it with the world.
