The Lone Star Leather Crafters Guild was established in FortWorth, Texas in 1986 by a small group of leather enthusiasts.Today, our Guild has grown into an international organization with members in theUnited States, Austria, Brazil, Germany, Japan, Norway, Sweden and TheNetherlands. Our skill levels range from novice to master, hobbyist to professional,with all members willing to share their ideas and skills with other leather enthusiasts.If you are interested in learning more about our Guild, we invite you to visit amonthly meeting which is held on the second Tuesday of the month. Membership inthe Guild is $20 for a single membership, $30 for a family membership, or a one-time $150 for a lifetime membership (U.S. funds). Dues are payable in January.All submissions for the Newsletter should be submitted to the address or e-mail toyour left. Submissions must be accompanied by the name and address of writer andare subject to editing for clarity and/or length. The deadline for submission is the25th of the month prior to publication.

Guild Meeting
Tuesday October 13, 2009
 The meeting starts at 7:00PMIf you would like to join us for dinner, good conversation, and funMeet us at Hide Crafters at 6:00PMWe will be handing out the IFOLG award certificates and recognizingthose who competed.Marlon Freeman will be giving us a lacing demonstration.
In case you don’t know, he teaches lacing for Tandy on Camp Bowie once
a month.

During the sale of Ken Neal’s tools, the question came up about how to remove rust from older tools.

Ellenberger had the solution. Put 2 table spoons of Cream of Tar-Tar into water and bring it to aboil. Drop the rusty tools into the water for about 5 minutes, then remove them. Dry them thoroughly and they are ready to go.
I guess we should throw in a caution here, just in case. So here ya go ….
 
CAUTION # 1 -
WATER THAT HAS BEEN BOILING FOR 5 MINUTES IT IS HOT. DON’T STICK YOUR FINGERS
IN IT
!
USE SOME SORT OF THONGS TO REMOVE THE TOOLS.CAUTION # 2 -
THE TOOLS WILL BE HOT TOO!! LET ‘EM COOL BEFORE YOU USE THEM.
