: Journal - 1 : First week : 26th January 30th January 2014 : First week in SK Bukit Selambau

The PISMP Semester 7 teacher trainees started their practicum on the 26th of January 2014. I registered myself to the school administrations on the first day of school. I was

introduced to the HMs assistant and they were kind enough to brief me about the school. Then, they brought me to staff room where I was introduced to Puan Maiziatun Fariza, my mentor for practicum. I was also given the time table as the temporary teacher for two classes 4 Pintar and 4 Bestari. On the third day of the week, I started to enter the class and I decided to spend some time to get to know my pupils. An ice breaking session was conducted to spend some time to get to know my pupils. I also pasted the class rules on the class board to make sure my pupils aware about the Dos and Donts in class. It is important for me to state the rules so that my pupils know what I am expecting from them. Besides, I have prepared a token card for every pupil. The tokens work as rewards during my teaching and learning process. When pupils disobey any rules that I have stated, I will take one token from them. This would prevent misbehaviours in the class. The following day, I started my lesson with 4 Pintar. I had sought for Puan Maiziatun Fariza s advice before delivering the lesson. I was glad because the first lesson went well. The pupils and I had an interacting session which they have asked everything about me. I think it is important to form a friendship bond between the teacher and her pupils. It will make them more comfortable and reduce the fear in learning.

I was glad that the first week went well. I have to put more effort to help my pupils to learn English and improve their basic skills.
