Why should we obey the Law
Obeying the law is a general moral obligation. Meaning that by obeying the laws you aredoing the right thing and that you are always suppose to do the right thing. If somebody killssomeone is it right to take away their life (life sentence jail). Current case is the Outsiders; I will be explaining how obeying/disobeying the law affects the individual’s, other people, communityand the social order. Does society have the right to punish people? If so, where does the rightcome from? The people who obey the law live regular and pleasant lives. The people who disobey thelaw get some or all their life take away from them. The law of the criminal justice system takesaway the most valuable thing a person has, his life. People who obey the law have nothing toworry about but they are restricted to what they can do, it is almost as if they have a ruler. Thelaws were created by the people who follow those laws. The people who do not follow the lawsare people for do not agree with the law. That doesn’t mean I agree with people who disobey thelaw it just explains why they break it. An example would be drugs. It is against the law to haveor use marijuana. There are people who disobey that law because they feel it should be their decision on whether they use it or not. So in this case the only person who really has somethingto worry about is Johnny because he was the one who killed one of the Socs. Johnny was protecting Ponyboy, so you can call it self-defense since the Socs did Attack them first butJohnny still killed someone and by the criminal justice system he must be punished.

The other people who did obeyed the law, such as the Socs. They will beunaffected by the Law because they didn’t really do anything illegal either then “jump” Ponyboyand Johnny but the worst they could get is community service. There wasn’t anyone whodisobeyed the law either then Johnny. Ponyboy was attacked and he did nothing wrong but because Johnny broke the law Ponyboy was forced to hide with him because he was at themurder scene. So this also affects the two brothers Sodapop and Darry. The decision Johnny made changed his life in a negative way but also changed the livesof the Socs in a positive way. I think that after experiencing something like that that theywouldn’t ‘jump” someone ever again and who knows what could of happened if Johnny hadn’tkilled the Socs maybe he would of killed Ponyboy. So there was something good that came outof disobeying the law. Everyone always looks at the negative aspects to breaking the law maybethey should start looking at the positive aspects to it. Obeying the law doesn’t affect thecommunity in the least bit, at least by disobeying the law there are lesson to be learned. There are consequences to obeying the law. People who obey the law are given their limited freedom (the law restricts them from being completely free). People who disobey the lawlose their freedom and their status in society. They are now criminals and forever will beaccording to the justice system. People only obey the law because they are scared of what mighthappen when they break the law. If there were no laws people would go wild and there would bechaos. I am not saying laws shouldn’t be obeyed, just that some laws are not justified as to whywe can’t do them.In my opinion disobeying the law in some cases can be justified as to being right andsociety has no right to punish people when it causes no harm. I mean some of the laws are
