[Freddy drags Linda's body into the living room, and rolls her up in a large rug.He then drags the rug down the hallway, opens a door, and slides the body down thestairs. As Freddy slams the door shut, the camera cuts to black.] [Fade in, Freddy's living room] "ONE WEEK LATER" [It is a bright morning. Freddy is sitting on his couch with his feet propped up,drinking a cup of coffee, and watching the morning news. We can hear the news inthe background.] NEWS ANCHORMAN: ..Peace protests continue as the fighting in Vietnam rages on.Yesterday in California.. [Camera cuts back to Freddy. He shakes his head silently, sighs, grabs the remote, and flips the channel. Suddenly, the doorbell rings. Freddy looks over hisshoulder, then gets up and walks to the door. He peers through the peephole, thereis a man standing there. He is wearing blue jeans, a light fitting jacket, and ablue baseball hat. He is holding a box in his arms.] FREDDY: [through the door] Who is it? MAN: I'm from the post office. A shipment came in today for this address. Can'tfit it in mailbox, need you to sign for it. [Freddy sighs, and unlocks the heavy brass lock on the wooden door. He opens itslowly. The man drops the box. As the box hits the front porch with a bang, hequickly withdraws a gun, and holds a badge up in front of him.] MAN: FREEZE! [Freddy's eyes grow wide. He jumps back, and attempts to slam the door shut, butis unsucessful. Five armed policemen sprint from around the house, and bust thedoor in. Freddy runs back, but is apprehended.] FREDDY: NO! NO NO NO NO!!! [Cut to black.] [Camera cuts in. It is a small room, with thick concrete walls. It is illuminatedwith a flourescent lightbulb, which makes a humming noise. Two guards stand in thecorner of the room, on each side of the door. There is a table in the middle ofthe room. On one end, sitting firmly in the chair, with his hands cuffed behindthe chair, is Freddy. Across the table, sitting slightly slumped over, with athick file in front of him, labeled "SPRINGWOOD SLASHER", is the arrestingofficer, the one who posed as a mailman. His name is Officer Joe Delaney. Two cupsof tap water sit in front of both the men.] OFFICER DELANEY: [takes a sip of water] Fred Krueger, also known as Freddy, alsoknown as Frederick, also known as the Springwood Slasher. That is your name, correct? FREDDY: Yes. OFFICER DELANEY: Alright. Now we have that out of the way, lets get on to the realstuff.

[The officer opens the file, pulls out a thick stack of pictures, and slides themacross the table. They are pictures of missing children, from Springwood. Thechildren Freddy has murdered.] OFFICER DELANEY: The bodies we found in your basement have been mutiliated anddecomposed beyond recognition, so I'm going to need you to identify a few kidsfrom me through these photographs. [Freddy sits there motionless, not looking at the pictures.] OFFICER DELANEY: Okay.. Look here bud. I'm going to be honest. What you have doneis dispicable. I have not one bit of respect for you. You are a coward. Betweenyou and me, the only thing stopping me from beating you to a bloody pulp rightabout now are the two assholes standing behind me. And I can have them leave theroom anytime I ask. So we can do this the easy way, or we can do it the hard way.Got it? [Freddy lets out a deep breath, he looks down at the pictures spread before him.He motions his head down at each one as he speaks.] FREDDY: That one is Joey Smith. Lettss see, I played catch with him outside. Wehad fun. I told him I had a catcher's mitt in the basement of the daycare that hecould have. He followed me. I put on my glove, and cut him up. I'll never forgetthe scream he let out as I finally caught him. [Motions down to another one] FREDDY: Ahh. Little Abigail Walters. She played outside of my home, all alone. Itwas a hot day outside, and I offered her a drink if she came inside. Oh, how shekicked and screamed. Took quite a bit of effort on my part to subdue her. Ifinally got her down, and stabbed her a few times. I believe she was the onewearing a little white dress. [Motions down to another one] FREDDY: [chuckles lightly] Oh yes, Danny Reid. He was playing basketball on thedaycare playground. He came inside for a drink, where I caught him. The scream helet out was bloodcurdling. I knew I had to work quickly, before we had someunwanted visitors. I dragged him down to my little office in the boiler room. Youcan find his ashes in one of the large furnaces down there. [Camera cuts to Officer Delaney. He is looking up at Freddy; a pure look of horrorand disgust plastered on his face.] OFFICER DELANEY: You.. Y-y-you sick son of a bitch.. FREDDY: [that evil smile on his face, laughs gently] Any more questions, officer? [Officer Delaney quietly slides the pictures back into the file, and walks out ofthe room. The heavy metal door slams shut.] [Camera cuts to a news report. It is grainy, and has that 70's TV feel. A newsreporter stands in the picture talking. He is standing in Freddy's front yard.Behind him, you see Officer Delaney walking Freddy out of the front door, and intothe back of a police cruiser. Cops litter the front yard. At the bottom of thescreen, there is a border, which reads, "SPRINGWOOD SLASHER CAUGHT"] NEWS REPORTER: ..As you can see, the mission was pulled off seamlessly. The man by

the name of Fred Krueger was apprehended by Officer Joe Delaney, and brought infor questioning earlier this evening. Police had a warrant to search for a LindaSimmons, who was reported missing earlier this week. Further investigation foundnot only the body of Simmons, but also the bodies of a large number of children.Back to you Bob. NEWS ANCHORMAN: Well I guess we can all sleep easy tonight Tom. [The TV turns off. Camera pans back. We are in a large office. Standing in thefront of the room, is Officer Delaney. Sitting behind a neatly organized, largewooden desk, is a man in a plaid business suit. It is the town's DistrictAttorney, Carl Wade. He is a middle aged man, wearing a pair of thin-rimmedglasses. He is holding the TV remote in his hand.] D.A. WADE: Let me ask you something Joe.. In that little news report, who did yousee dragging that bastard into the cruiser? OFFICER DELANEY: Me. D.A. WADE: Correct. Now, who sat in that room, and interrogated the bastard aboutthe findings in his home? OFFICER DELANEY: Uh.. Me. [The D.A. slams his fists on the desk, the TV remote hits the woodwork with aBANG.] D.A. WADE: Jesus Christ Joe, do you not have one bit of goddamned sense in yourhead?! Ohio state law says that the arresting officer of a suspect is not allowedin the interrogation room! Its considered a threat against the suspect! OFFICER DELANEY: W-what? You aren't serious are you? [D.A. Wade takes a sip out of a flask, and shakely removes his glasses. He hascalmed down now.] D.A. WADE: I'm sorry Joe.. By law, all of his statements are now clear and void.He is a free man. OFFICER DELANEY: No. No, no, no, no, no. You know damn well what that sick bastarddid. I didn't go through that.. that fucking trouble.. for you to sign somefucking paper, and let him walk out of this station. That man deserves to rot in afederal penitentiary. You didn't go down into that basement Carl. You didn't seethose bodies. You didn't sit there, in that fucking room, and listen to himdescribe what he did with not the slightest bit of remorse! Justice NEEDS to bebrought to this man CARL!! [D.A. WADE lets out a deep breath, and silently signs a form.] OFFICER DELANEY: I hope you're realizing what you're doing Carl.. I hope yourealize what you're doing to those kids, those parents.. They're going to berallying outside your office like some kind of goddamned hippie commune.. [D.A. WADE looks up, and points at the door with his pen.] D.A. WADE: Leave. [Officer Delaney walks silently out of the room.]
