Chhath festival, a festival to worshipGod Sun has been globalised now.Initially, this festival was parochial andlocalized and it was celebrated ineastern parts of India especially inBihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh only,but thanks to media, especiallyelectronic media, this festival got widecoverage and now has transformedinto an all India affair. wife of Pandavas during the period inexile. It is said that when Kauravashatched conspiracy to kill Pandavas inthe house of lac, Pandavas somehowsurvived. They had to escape into jungles to save their lives. They had toundergo unprecedented hardships in jungles. During the period, Arjun, thegreat archer, won Draupadi in aswayamvar. Draupadi wanted tomitigate woes of her family thereforeshe performed worship to god sun. itis said that this is how this festivalmarked the beginning. There is another popular belief thatChhath worship was started by thegreat warrior Karna, the son of LordSurya, the sun and Kunti.
