Mission
of
AGARD
According
to
its
Charter,
themission
of
AGARD
is
to
bringtogether
the
leadingpersonalities
of
the
NATO
nations in
the
fields
of
scienceand
technologyrelating
to
aerospace
for
the
following purposes:
-
Recommendingeffective
ways
for
the
membernations
to
use theirresearch
and
developmentcapabilitiesfor
the
common benefit
of
the
NATO community;
-
Providing
scientificand
technical
advice and
assistance
to
theMilitary Committee
in
the field
of
aerospaceresearchand
development
(with
particularregard
to
its
military
application);
-
Continuously stimulating
advances
in
theaerospacesciences
relevant
to
strengtheningthe commondefence posture;
-
Improving the
co-operationamong
member
nations inaerospace
research
and
development;
-
Exchange
of
scientific and
technical information;
-
Providing assistance
to
member
nations
for
the
purpose
of
increasingtheir
scientificand technical
potential;
-
Rendering
scientificand
technical
assistance,
as
requested,
to
other
NATO
bodies
and to
membernations
in
connection
with
research
and
developmentproblems
in
theaerospace
field.The
highest authority within AGARD
is
the
NationalDelegatesBoard consisting
of
officiallyappointed
seniorrepresentativesfrom
each
membernation. The
mission
of
AGARD
is
carried out through
the
Panels
which
are
composed
of
experts
appointedby
theNational
Delegates,
the
Consultant
and
Exchange Programme
and
theAerospaceApplications
Studies
Programme.The results
of
AGARD
work are
reported
to
the
member nations
and
theNATO Authoritiesthrough
the
AGARD
series
of
publications
of
which
this
is
one.
Participation
in
AGARD
activitiesis
by invitation only
and
is
normallylimited
to
citizens
of
the
NATO
nations.
