Psychological Keys to Job Satisfaction
Importance of Job Satisfaction
Job satisfaction is essential for all working professionals as it plays an important part in reducing factors like stress that may adversely affect their overall life. The growing competition in the service industry over the past few years has made it difficult for professionals to realize true job satisfaction. For some of them, it is something that is measured entirely on monetary terms, while others believe it is about how fast you can climb up the ladder. However, the actual parameters for measuring job satisfaction are more psychological than anything else.
The Psychological Keys to Job Satisfaction
It is only your mind that can tell you whether you are satisfied with a particular job or not. There are 5 main psychological keys to job satisfaction for working professionals. These are:
Sense of achievement:
In order to be satisfied with your job, it is important that you have a sense of achievement in the work that you do. There is no point doing a job if you cannot achieve anything out of it. It is easier to attain a sense of achievement in jobs that involve direct interactions with customers and clients. However, even those doing a back end job can achieve a lot despite the nature of their work.
Control over what they do:
No individual would want to do a job or perform a task that they are unable to control. Professionals can only be satisfied with a job when they have all the required skills for the job and have complete control over what they are doing. If you do not have control over your job, it can lead to stretched work schedules and criticism that may cause stress.
Organizational Support:
You may be performing exceedingly well at your job, but it all goes to  waste if you do not get the required support and due recognition from the company management. Organizational support or the lack of it is often the most important factor in the decision to stick  with a job or move on to another organization.

The challenging nature of job & variety:
There are jobs that may be challenging to start off  with but may become relatively easier and dull as time passes by. On the other hand, there are jobs that can offer you a new challenge almost every day. For most professionals, satisfaction in a particular job ends the day the job stops challenging them.
Perception of fairness:
A professional can remain satisfied with a job only as long as an organization is being fair in terms of pay scale increase and promoting people. Once this perception of fairness gets erased from the mind, an individual finds it difficult to realize job satisfaction.
