Recipes, tips and tricks for using Filestorage effectively
Creating a Folder and uploading files to it.
Step 1: Navigate Using the Directory Tree
Click on the directory tree on the left pane of the screen and navigate to thelocation you wish to create a new folder. Your location will always be displayed onthe "Address" bar.
Step 2: Click on the "Create New Folder" button
You will be asked to give a name for your new folder. When naming your folder,only alphanumeric characters are allowed. No spaces or special characters arepermitted in folder names. Then click "Create" to create the folder.
Step 3: Display the Listing of the New Folder
Again, using the Directory Tree, navigate to your new folder and click on it. It willopen a new tab on the right pane of your screen.
Step 4: Click on the "Upload" tab and select a file
When you click on the upload tab, you can select the file(s) you want to upload byclicking on the "Add Files(s)" button. You can select more than one files by pressingclicking and holding on the "Control" button on your keyboard and selecting the fileswith our mouse. File names with invalid characters (like symbols and non Englishnames) will not be uploaded. Rename the file with alphanumeric names foruploading.
Step 5: Upload your files
When you are done with the file selection, click on the "Upload Files" button toupload to the server. The upload progress will be shown on the progress bar on thebottom of the screen. When uploading of the file is complete, the status will bechanged to "Complete". Do not attempt to refresh the page while uploading or theprogress will be interrupted. It is not possible to resume uploads if it is interrupted.
Sharing a single file with other people.
Step 1: Select the file you wish to share
Navigate to the folder that contains the file using the directory tree. Then select thefile by clicking on file row.
Step 2: Click on the "Sharing" button
A dialog box will appear showing you a unique URL. Copy this web address andshare it with the people you want to give access to the file. Anyone with this URLwill be able to download the file.
 
Sharing folders and their contents with other people.
Step 1: Select the folder you wish to share
Navigate to the folder that contains the file using the directory tree. Then select thefolder by clicking on file row.
Step 2: Click on the "Sharing" button
A dialog box will ask you if you wish to enable sharing of this folder. Select "Yes" toenable sharing or "No" to stop sharing.
Step 3: Create a User to access the shared folders
Click on the "User" tab and followed by the "New User" button. Fill in the form thatappears to create the new user. Only give people who you trust with "Administrator"or "Read & Write" access as these groups have the privilege of uploading files to theserver. Administrators are able to delete files and assign users as well.
Trouble Shooting and FAQ
My upload failed. It says "404 Error. File Not found"
The file upload could have been interrupted. Try uploading the file again and makesure the file name doesn't contain invalid characters.
My upload seems to have stalled. The status says"uploading" but its progress bar is at 100%
The file upload could have been interrupted. Try uploading the file again by re-selecting the file.
How do I unshare a file?
You cannot unshare a file once you have given other people the URL of the sharedfile. To unshare it, delete away the copy in the server and re-upload it again.
Nothing is displayed on the new tab when I click on afolder in the Directory Tree
The loading process could be interrupted. Try closing the tab and opening it again.
What is the maximum file size I can upload to theserver?
The file limit size is 100MB.
My Upload was interrupted. Can I resume my uploadswhere it left off?
Unfortunately, interrupted uploads cannot be resumed.
Can I upload a file with a non-English charset name?
Non-English file name uploads are not support. Rename the file with an Englishname if you wish to upload the file.
