Problems

• How diverse is our pond fish population?

• How has the biodiversity changed over the

last few years?

• What can the hidden pond's biodiversity

tell us about the pond's health?
What is Biodiversity?
• diversity among and within plant and
animal species in an environment.
Why is biodiversity important in an
ecosystem?
• biodiversity provides the conditions
and drives the processes that sustain
the global economy – and our very
survival as a species.

Fishing procedures
What we used
• We used fishing rods to hold our line,
something else we used, which held our hook,
another thing we used, which held our bait,
once again something we used, which lured
the fish. The 2 types of rods, open and closed
reel. We also used bait because we had a
hunch that the fish would not go willingly on the
hook. Some of the better bait we used was
some hotdogs, some worms, and corn, kernels
and kernels of corn.
Where we fished!
We fished at the hidden pond, and pond at
the back of EHMIS. The are three areas of
the hidden pond. There is the front, the
part of the pond where I fished, pine tree
loop, the part of the pond where the most
fish are caught, and lentic loop, the part of
the pond where the least fish were caught.

• Use bait (duh), fish won’t
bite without a choice cut
(just kidding, you can use
any food for bait)
• Use a fishing rod you
know how to work.
• Good bait examples
• Mealworms -
Lures
• Worms -Hot dog
• Corn -
Fruit Gushers
• Fish -
Almost anything else!
• Bread
• Do NOT cast near trees
(believe me, I’d know).
• Do NOT fish near other
fishermen/women
• Do NOT focus on saving
the hook, save the fish
first (or people will think
you are mean).
