Contemporary Issues What should we do with Iraq???
We have seen plenty of death and destruction on the newscasts we have viewed together in our short time in the class. The question keeps coming up: What do we do??? You as a group of 2-3 will make that decision!!!
You are to take the role of the closest advisor to the US President. You are to produce:
1: A major plan for the rebuilding of Iraq keeping in mind and referencing the content material presented in your notes. This should include the cost involved, what you will do, how you will do it, and what you would expect the Iraqi’s to do in return, if anything. This can be in the form of a poster, a paper, or a leaflet that could be dropped to the people of Iraq
2: What is our exit strategy? You decide. If we are to pull the troops out, just saying we give up and pulling them out overnight will not be feasible. You need to come up with some sort of chart, graph, or visual that details the how, when, and why of pulling the troops out. Of course, if you wish to keep them there, that fine too, but make sure you explain yourself as well!
3: What do you recommend Iraq do with itself after US troops are gone? Should it split up? Is there some other way to structure the country or government that will be fair to the three major groups we identified in our notes? This is where the major portion of the notes comes in. If you split the country, how do you split it? Where do you split it? You must include maps, charts, graphs, or whatever you need to present your groups thoughts, or ideas.
This is due on Friday, October 30th, at the end of the day. It is worth 50 points.
