One of the things is though that this is from late October, there have probably been many edits by now.

Starting to read this is over powering and reminds me of the huge task of putting this together and the mass vulnerability of trying to get something basically good thru Congress. Oh, how frustrating and whats the answer?

It is not easy, but I am trying very hard to become informed on this. I am on page 266, taking notes. So far, it is very disturbing. This bill has so many tentacles into our economy and the lives of every citizen.

LisaLisa49 replied:

I agree, greenderry. The parts where it refers to the fines, the bearing on doctor-patient confidentiality, the ability it has to take away our liberties. So many are willing to give up their constitutional rights, for the wants of a few...15% who don't have health insurance for one reason or other, versus the 85% of us who are vehemently against this monstrous infringement on on our lives.

You could read all 1990 pages of this, or you could just wait for "The $750 Popsicle, or, Old Mother's Radical Blueprint for Healthcare Reform." It will be much shorter and sweeter, and good for a laugh. P.S. In re third line "...and for other purposes." Could we be more specific?

Ajiryn replied:

Look at the sidebar, if you will. 210.6 words per page. Now read the 3 comments and 4 replies on this page, which equal MORE than 210. The amount of time it took you to read those seven comments is roughly the same amount of time it'll take you to read a page. (Not long.)

Ajiryn replied:

Considering how a page of text in this thing is roughly equal to a sixth of a college textbook's worth of text, you've got your reading cut out for you. Fact: The book 'Twilight' is 115,362 words long. 12 year old girls are reading that in maybe a week. By that logic, shouldn't adults be able to knock out HR3962 in 4 weeks?

Ajiryn replied:

1990 pages? That's it? Damn, and I thought this was going to be impossible. Lord forbid that there is a 17-year old El Paso boy who read that in three days during dinner, lunch, and bathroom breaks. I guess maybe us Americans lack the ability to actually fathom reading anything longer than 3 digits.

I'm afraid it will freeze my computer. Wow. 1990 pages. AHAAHA!
