The great thing about a Wiki is that anyone and everyone cancontribute. No single person or organization knows everythingthat there is to know about the Symbian platform, but within theworld-wide Symbian community we probably have most of it cov-ered between us, even if it hasn’t all been written down yet!The Wiki on
developer.symbian.org
gives each of us the oppor-tunity to share our knowledge and experience with the rest of thecommunity. And it gives each of us the opportunity of using thosepieces of information that others have chosen to share. Informa-tion that can save us time and money. Information that can helpus create better products, better applications, better tools andbetter experiences.People often ask “How can I trust the information in the Wiki?”.One answer is that in a thriving wiki every edit is reviewed bythe community. However, it helps to know something about thepeople who contributed it. Every registered user has a personalpage on the Wiki and we encourage you to use your page to
create a prole. So, if you can’t think of anything else to write
about on the wiki yet (and even if you can), please start by writingabout yourself! We explain how to create your Wiki user page at
developer.symbian.org/wiki/index.php/Help:My_User_Page
.Creating and editing wiki content is really quick and easy. We’veput this cheatsheet together to help you with the basic formatting
and to explain how to create your rst page.
Creating a new page
You can create a new page on our wiki by navigating to
developer.symbian.org/wiki
and using the create box at thebottom left of the page. Click on the
Content Page
link. The wikiwill ask you to enter a page name and will then create and open anew page in edit view. Every page must have a unique name, soif you enter a page name that exists already the wiki will open thatpage for editing instead. Just hit the back button on your browserand think of a different page name! The wiki editor allows you to preview your work but only saves itwhen you click the save button.
Wiki tip
Wiki pages link to other wiki pages by including their names aswiki links like this: [[page name]]. If a wiki page links to a pagethat doesn’t yet exist, the wiki displays the link text in red. Whenyou click on a red link, the page opens in edit view automaticallyso you can type into it and save the new page. Links to existingpages are displayed in blue.
When it comes to making your rst contribution, don’t worry if you
are not sure of your knowledge or of your writing skills. We can
help you. The back of this cheatsheet explains where you can nd
out more about the wiki and how to get in touch with us.
