"treet "# bet$een "outh Capitol "treet and %st "treet "#& %' Install east-west stop signs both on the sides of the street and in the middle of the street at the intersection of I Street SE and Half Street SE. This is a ma(or pedestrian intersection, as it is the primar route for thousands of residents and )isitors tra)elin* to the Na) +ard metro station& The number of curb cuts in the )icinit of this intersection alread makes tra)elin* b an means a chaotic e,perience& !nstallin* stop si*ns $ould do a lot to calm this intersection do$n& -' Add a crosswalk on the east side of the intersection of I Street SE and Half Street SE. .i*ht no$, the onl cross$alk north/south is on the $est side of the intersection, $hich does not help the residents of the 01 ! and %11 ! apartment buildin*s& The ANC understands that there is a poorl placed se$er drain on the northeast side of the intersection $here the northern terminus of this ne$ cross$alk $ould be& 2o$e)er, the $est side cross$alk is ADA compliant, and it is imperati)e that this cross$alk be added, re*ardless of this desi*n fla$& 3' Increase enforcement of traffic laws along I Street SE, and at the intersection of I Street SE with South Capitol Street. The north side of these blocks of ! "treet "# are constantl under sie*e from double parkers that block the bike lane and decrease *eneral )isibilit of all road users& Traffic backed up at ! "treet "# and "outh Capitol "treet also tends to 4block the bo,5 and block cross$alks and prohibit efficient passa*e of all users passin* throu*h the intersection& We ask that enforcement be increased alon* ! "treet "# and at the intersection of ! "treet "# and "outh Capitol "treet so that proper lanes are respected and flo$ is made more safe and efficient& 6' Install a crosswalk on the north side of the intersection of I Street SE and South Capitol Street. As it stands, residents from the 01 and %11 ! "t "# apartment buildin*s ha)e to cross south before crossin* "outh Capitol "treet into "outh$est& As the .andall .ec Center and recreation fields are location on the north side of !
