utlve director of a new center
designed to focus volunteer ef-
fort in Dallas,

Action Center-Special Effort to
Recruit Volunteers, announced
Mrs, Griffin's appointment. Of-

Mrs, Griffin has been serving
as director of community re-
sources, including volunteer
time and talent, for the Dallas
County Community Action
Committee (the War on Pover-
ty).
The agency she now will di-
rect is sponsored by the Com-
munity Councit of Greater Dal-
las, financed by the United
Fund and designed to facilitate
the recruitment, training and
placement of volunteers,
According to the official ane
nouncement of Mrs. Griffin's
selection, the DVAC “will con
duct an aggressive campaign
to interest more citizens in the
Da‘las area to volunteer their
skills and time to the many
worthwhile health, welfare, rec>
reational, civic and cultural ace
tivities in the community.”
Originally from Chicago,
‘Mrs. Griffin has directed vol-
unteers at several hospitals,
worked for the Callier Hearing
and Speech Center building
fund and headed the district
staff of the Texas Graduate
Nurses Association,
She joined the Dallas County
Community Action Committee
in 1967 as director of volun-
teers, an assignment later ex-
panded into that of director of
community resources,
