Manuel L. Que-zon was born in Baler,Tayabas, (now Quezonprovince) on August 19,1898. His parents wereLucio Quezon and MariaMolina, both teachers.He was an early achiever.He joined the Katipunanwhen he was 18 years oldand the army of GeneralAguinaldo when he was21.Quezon startedhis career as a public ser-vant when he was 25years old. His first jobwas that of provincialfiscal. After a fewmonths, he ran for gover-nor of his provinceand won by a large margin.From being gov-ernor, Quezon rose to become resident commis-sioner, president of thesenate, diplomatic ambas-sador, and the first Presi-dent of the Common-wealth of the Philippines.On October 12, 1939, hesigned bill no. 1206 creat-ing Quezon City. He be-came the caretaker of tQuezon City until a newmayor was appointed inthe person of DonTomas Morato. On Au-gust 1, 1944, Manuel L.Quezon died at LakeSaranac, New York,where he was beingtreated for tuberculosis.His body was first de-posited in ArlingtonCemetery in America tothe Cementerio delNorte (North Cemetery)in Manila.

This washighlighted by a Seminar-Workshop on SourcingLibrary Materials, Pup-petry & Storytelling for Public Libraries, and Es-tablishment and Manage-ment of Public Libraries.The symbolic turn-over of donated books was led bythe City Librarian, Ms.Emy Villanueva as CLAPIPresident assisted by Ms.Fe Abelardo, Head of theReference Division of TNL and Dr. Enrique T.Cayaban, Director of Li-braries of SMU.As a token of ap-preciation to the officersand members of theChildren’s Literature of the Philippines (CLAPI),Dr. Rabec, together withSMU Library Staff, spon-sored a tour to Sagada,Mt. Province, which thegroup considered as abreathtaking experiencewith its mountainous cliffsand rough roads. But attop of the mountain, youwill feel a sigh of relief,having breathed the freshair, seen the wonderfulcreation of the AlmightyGod and felt relaxed withthe scenery of the place.Kudos to these fellows.

The Children’sLiterature Association of the Philippines, Inc.(CLAPI) in collaborationwith Quezon City PublicLibrary (QCPL) and TheNational Library (TNL)conducted its outreachservice/activity thru bookdonation last August 27-28, 2009 dubbed as“Handog Aklat Pambata,Part 3”(Gift: Children’sBooks) in Saint Mary’sUniversity – Bayombong,Nueva Viscaya. This wasthe third time the grouphad this kind of service toSaint Mary’s University’sadopted center, TheKalinga Mission Center (KMC) headed by Dr.
