Description

Electricity production by solar cells is expanding, and electric power price and hence supply of reasonable raw materials is one key factor. Today, the production of silicon for semiconductors and solar cells is a very complex process starting with lump quartz. The possibility to follow a more complex mineral processing followed by a direct metallurgical route, starting with a rock containing high purity quartz is investigated.
