VISION . . . .
The Gettysburg Area Middle School, recognizing the uniquenessof the middle level student and working in partnership with the family and com-munity, provides an educational environment in which each student is encour-aged and expected to achieve his/her full potential as an emerging, responsiblecitizen.
MEETING STUDENT NEEDS . . . .
The Gettysburg Area Middle School staff recognizes students’ intellectual, physical, social, and emotional needs in devel-oping the educational program. One of the goals we have is to create an envi-ronment in which all students can succeed. We recognize the unique growthand development of each child.
TEAMING . . . .
All students are assigned to a team of teachers who are respon-sible for instruction in the areas of mathematics, science, language arts, and so-cial studies. Teaming provides a sense of community for students so they canlearn in a safe, warm, caring environment. There are approximately 100 stu-dents on each team. There are three teams within each grade level.
 PARENT PARTICIPATION . . . .
Students in the Gettysburg Area MiddleSchool are most likely to be successful when parents and teachers work to-gether. To assist in that partnership, parents are encouraged to join us in thefollowing manner:
Visit the classroom at any time. No advance notice or appointment is neces-sary. Just register at the office before going to the classroom.
Call the team leader and ask to meet with your child’s teachers. Each teamis given sufficient meeting time to satisfy your schedule.
Group parent meetings occur with the principal four times a year in theevening. Dates for those meetings are sent home at the beginning of eachyear and reminders sent by email. All are invited to attend.
Use the Internet and
 HomeLogic
to continuously check on your student’s progress on assignments, grades, and attendance. Applications for
 HomeLogic
are available in the guidance office.
