The term large intestine comes from theLatin term “Intestium crassum”.

It is the last part of digestive system-final stage of the alimentary canal-invertebrate animals.

It is about 4.9 feet long(app.5 ft) and2.5 cm in diameter.

It is about one-fifth of the whole length of the intestinal canal.
