TIPS AND TRICKS TO OPTIMIZE WINDOWS XPThere are a few minor things you can do to make a big difference in how WinXP runs on your pc.These are simple steps you can take, some on a regular basis, that make a big difference on howyour OS will run.The biggest concern is how Windows creates and stores temporary files. It stores and incrediblenumber of temp files while browsing. Did you know that every page you visit is stored temporarily onyour pc? That’s right, every single page you visit is written to your hard drive in some form or another.Cookies build up fast right along side of them.The smart thing to do is go to your “Internet Options” and make a few tweaks. You can get there fromeither your “Control Panel” or your browser. Go to your Control Panel and click on “Internet Options”.
 
Or you can open your browser, click on “Tools”, then on “Internet Options” and get to it the same way.Next you will have the options box in view as below.The General tab, (at the top) will be open. Click on the “Settings” button under the “Browsing History”category and a new box will open for those settings. As seen on the right in the above screen shot.Set the “disk space used” by clicking in the white box on the right, and change that value to 250 if itisn’t already. In the “History” category at the bottom of that window, change “Days to keep pages inhistory” to 1 or 2 days, or better, make it 0. Then say okay to all windows.Now it’s a good idea to dump all the temporary files you have stored on your pc. Open your IEbrowser, and click on the “tools” menu, as shown below.
 
 Next you will get a “Delete browsing history” window, as shown below:Click “Delete all...” check the box in the next window that opens, and click “yes”. This will purge allthose unnecessary temp files windows has been holding, keeping up with, and using your resourcesto do it.
