US Leadership Abandons its Allies

Once, twice, six times a failure for the administration on the global scene

Not since the Carter Administration has the government failed so miserably on the international stage. Its time to take a stand, and Congress must take center stage to rebuild the international standing of the US, says Carl Higbie Connecticut District 4 Congressional candidate and former Navy SEAL.

The Administration, like it or not, has done nothing for our US allies to assuage their fears of global destabilization. After strategically fumbling on no less than six occasions: the rhetoric spewed by the current administrationunderpinned by empty threats and posturingdemonstrates a distinct lack of global leadership. Worse, these empty threats and statements (on behalf of America) have been taken to mean the US is abandoning its allies.

The US has been either unable or unwilling to back up its stance first in Syria, now in Ukraine: equating to a complete failure for US leadership on a global stage.

HIGBIE2014: We need to stop abandoning our allies.

Higbie added, By allowing countries like Russia to violate international treaties without sanctions or repercussionsand without the US standing firm and leading the international community in the face of the challenge to Ukraine sovereignty, we shrink even more in the eyes of the rest of the world.

He continued, Internationally, we are impotent. The administrations response to crises have been laughable and our failure to stand firm in the face of a ruthless dictator and a simple bully, has only served to undermine our position as a global leader. The current administration is responsible for no less than six events where a lack of action has undermined our position on the global stage. Higbie added.

For too long, the government has allowed Russia and China to dominate the international political agenda. The administration has failed to strike when it had the strategic opportunity to either make a stand or create a diplomatic solution in numerous situations. Those situations could have been leveraged into increased US standing on the international front and reduced Chinese and Russian influence on other nations, Higbie concluded.

Our failure of leadershipand lack of ability to back up rhetoric like lines in the sand with actionand our continual failure to stop other nations running roughshod over international institutions like the UN, we are setting the world up for failure and losing our credibility as a global superpower.

About Carl:

Carl Higbie (http://www.carlhigbie.com/), a decorated Navy SEAL and Iraq War veteran, is vying for the Republican nomination to represent Connecticut Congressional District 4.

As he enters the hotly contested race for the seat currently held by Jim Himes since 2008, Higbie finds many issues with Himes representation of the district.

The government has done nothing to turn things around or stop job losses in the district. Jim Himes claims he is helping the economy, but has done very little in real terms. Higbie also takes his opponents to task: Whats the plan, Dan (Dibecella)? he asks. Theres little difference between Dibecella and Himes. I stand for a break from

what these career politicians and their agendas embody and will champion what is right for CT-4.

He sees the problems-first hand Government red tape and regulations are stifling business and job growth in this district. I say: if you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem. Himes is part of the problem. He offers no tangible plan or solutions, while I make my positions crystal clear.
