Thursday, July 20, 2006 Return to the Moon In the words of administrator Griffin, the NASA architecture that will get us to the Moon is effectively an "Interstate Highway," a transportation system that will allow goods and services to travel between the Earth and the Moon. Simply put, NASA will get to the Moon, but the private sector will determine what is accomplished there. In administrator Griffin's words, it is up to the private sector to create the "exit ramps" and the "interesting destinations" along the way. The primary focus of this part of the conference will be determining what these exit ramps are and how they will work. Companies will give a 10 minute presentation to the audience and a panel of experts from the legal community, venture capital and angel investing. Workshops: Friday Workshops Friday, Quo Vadis? Space Advocacy and the U.S. Military in Space July 21 Space development advocates and military leaders have many 2:00 PM common requirements in low-cost, reliable space transportation, but differences in world views have prevented the two groups from effectively talking to one another. To understand why this is, this workshop will begin with a brief learning session on military space. Then, we move into a discussion workshop that will examine the differing world views of the two groups and seek to find common ground between them. Our goal is to develop a pro-frontier policy that is saleable to U.S. military leaders and define initial steps for its implementation.

NewSpace 2006 Speakers Bios Hugh Arif
Hugh Arif is a Space Initiatives Manager for Cisco Systems, Global Defense, Space & Security Group and has 22 years of experience in the civilian and commercial space industry. He is responsible for Cisco's support of NASA programs, mission and projects with open standards-based, commercial solutions and architectures for in-space and merged space-to-ground communications. Under a Space Act Agreement with NASA Goddard, Hugh led the collaborative effort for the proof-of-concept development testing of Cisco's first embedded rad-hardened, space qualified router. His currently supports technology solutions for NASA's Project Constellation elements, both for vehicle internal and external networked communications. He has worked progressively as an aerospace engineer, Project Manager and then Branch Chief at NASA Glenn in design and analysis of spacecraft systems, shuttle payloads and space station subsystems. Hugh then worked at NASA Goddard in the Flight Projects Directorate, and served as the Test Director for the Tropical Rainfall Measurement Mission (TRMM) spacecraft. Prior to joining Cisco, Hugh was a Program Manager with Rockwell for ground systems automation of the US National Missile Defense program and has global program management experience with Exxon and Fluor Corporations. He has published 19 technical papers in space research and technology-related journals and has a MSME from SUNY at Buffalo, a BSME from the University of Engineering and Technology, Pakistan and is a 1992 attendee of the International Space University. Haym Benaroya
Haym Benaroya is Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Rutgers New Brunswick. His degrees are from The Cooper Union in New York and the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. After Penn, he joined Weidlinger Associates, Consulting Engineers, in New York in 1981 and joined Rutgers in 1989. His professional interests focus on the study of structural dynamics and probabilistic modeling, with applications to offshore, aircraft and lunar structures. He is interested in space, education and defense policy issues. He currently is Director of the Rutgers Center for Structures in Extreme Environments. Professor Benaroya is also the author of two research monographs on offshore structural dynamics, and two textbooks on vibration and probabilistic modeling.
Robert Bigelow
Robert Thomas Bigelow is a native of Las Vegas, Nevada. He graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Since the beginning of his career in real estate, the scope of Robert Bigelow's business endeavors has included banking operations, real estate acquisitions, sales, real estate brokerage, design, development, financing, general contracting, construction and management. All of which have allowed him to pursue his dream of commercializing space. In 1999, he founded Bigelow Aerospace ("BA"). BA is a general contracting, investment, research and development company that concentrates on achieving economic breakthroughs in the costs associated with the design, development and construction of habitable space stations, space transportation and launch facilities to the extent that they will be affordable for private enterprise use. Since 2002, 160,000 sq. ft. of high bay facilities have been built on 50 acres located in North Las Vegas. The plant is extensively equipped with fabricating and testing facilities. In addition to the North Las Vegas plant, Mr. Bigelow purchased a 50,000 sq. ft facility in 2005 on 5 acres in Houston. BA is in the process of organizing four communication sites in the United States with its Mission Control facility

located at the North Las Vegas plant. Currently, the BA Company has increased its staff to over 120 employees. Bigelow Aerospace has developed strong relationships with various large and small aerospace companies both foreign and domestic. BA has acquired exclusive licenses for 17 years on all NASA expandable technologies and docking systems, as well as multiple Space Act agreements with NASA. BA has purchased and reserved multiple flights on the Kosmotras Yuzhnoye Dnepr rocket for several pathfinder spacecraft deployments in 2006, 2007 and 2008, and intends to purchase several Space-X flights on their Falcon 9 rocket. Mr. Bigelow has personally committed himself to the Bigelow Aerospace mission. Furthering aerospace technology, he has been personally granted eight patents and has 13 more that have been submitted and are awaiting approval. To date, he has spent over $75 million and is prepared to invest $500 million by 2015 into space station modules. He may invest another $150 million into private transportation systems as seed money and invest $20 million as seed money into a spaceport facility. Bigelow Aerospace's first flight of the 33%-scale prototype Genesis I took place on July 12 2006. The second flight of Genesis II will be scheduled for Fall 2006. Full-scale deployments of habitable space station modules (depending on availability of transportation from either the United States or Russian vehicles) are hoped for in 2011-2012. Bigelow Development Co. has built apartments and extended stay units, warehouses, office buildings and single-family homes in the southwestern United States. Mr. Bigelow has provided financing, site selection, and furnished overall architectural concepts and floor plans for the construction of over 12,000 units in addition to purchases involving 8,000 more units. He has hired and trained numerous supervisors and staff, established policies and procedures of construction and real estate management, generally designing all management systems for Bigelow Management Inc. over 35 years. Mr. Bigelow has a breadth of finance and banking experience. He was the second largest shareholder of a savings and loan, and for five years he served on its board of directors. For another five-year period, he served as a director of a commercial bank of which he was the largest shareholder. Mr. Bigelow has owned and operated his own mortgage company, where he originated loans and bought and sold trust deeds and mortgages. Mr. Bigelow and his wife have made contributions to various educational, research and charitable organizations over the years, including the Nevada Cancer Institute. They have made generous gifts to the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), including funding for buildings housing both the College of Health Sciences and the Department of Physics. UNLV has named these buildings after two Bigelow family members. UNLV has also honored them with membership in the Palladium Society. In 1995, the Board of Regents of the University and Community College System of Nevada (UCCSN) honored Mr. Bigelow as "Distinguished Nevadan," the most prestigious award it confers, for significant achievements contributing to the cultural, scientific or social advancement of Nevada and its people. Robert Bigelow is active and a member in various business, scientific and community organizations. He is a member of the UNLV Foundation and an associate member of the Society for Scientific Exploration. For many years, he was a member of the Board of Realtors.
Brad R. Blair
Brad is currently a part-time consultant in the areas of mining technology, space resources and space commercialization, and a part-time PhD student at the Department of Mining Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. He is also affiliated with the CSM Center for Space Resources. Recent consulting customers have included Raytheon, NASA, DigitalSpace and SysRAND Corporation. He holds degrees in geology, mining engineering and mineral economics, and has 5 years of professional experience in mining engineering and mineral exploration. He has published over 25 papers on topics related to engineering and economic aspects of planetary in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) since 1992. During the summer of 1999, Brad was a visiting professional at the NASA/JSC Exploration Office, where he learned and practiced cost estimation in support of the combo lander human Mars design reference mission. From 2002-2005, he and a small team at CSM conducted full-time research for NASA on topics related to ISRU. Studies have included - Systems engineering for mining propellants on the Moon and Mars; Lunar polar data analysis; Planetary excavator design and prototype development; NASA technology roadmapping; And, ISRU system design, costing and economic/commercial modeling.
Vanna Bonta
Vanna Bonta has written poems and short stories since age six. She is the author of FLIGHT: a Quantum Fiction novel, four poetry collections, assorted works, and essays. Also a screenwriter, her writing jobs include scripts for stars Pierce Brosnan (James Bond) and Robert Davi (Profiler). One of Bonta's stories was purchased by Paramount for Star Trek, selected by the legendary series creator Gene Roddenberry, with whom she worked in its television development for STAR TREK: The Next Generation. Bonta's poetry has been awarded two prestigious medals by literary committees in Florence, Italy where the late celebrated Italian poet Margherita Guidacci introduced Bonta as an "important

discovery." Bonta's essays, fiction, and poems have been translated into Japanese, French, and Italian. FLIGHT, Vanna Bonta's novel set in the Space Age, coined the genre "quantum fiction," brought science and fantasy to mainstream shelves, and inspired devoted fans. In the tradition of two of her classic heroes Orson Welles and Rod Serling, Bonta has a sideline career of movie and TV epiphanies. Bonta wrote, directed, and produced the short movie, What Goes Up in 2005. She also cameos in the beloved fantasy classic The Beastmaster, and her voice is heard on select films and television.
Randall Clague
Randall Clague works for XCOR Aerospace as the Government Liaison, Safety Officer, and Flight Operations Officer. Randall did the bulk of the heavy lifting for XCOR's launch license in 2004, and helped write the Commercial Space Launch Amendments Act of 2004 (CSLAA). CSLAA gave the FAA's Office of Commercial Space Transportation explicit authority over space tourism, and created the experimental permit regime for suborbital rockets to allow test flights in the same manner that the experimental airworthiness certificate allows test flights for amateur built airplanes. As Flight Ops, Randall coordinated the successful requalification of the EZ-Rocket in 2005, which led to back to back flights at the X Prize Cup in Las Cruces in October 2005, and a world record for pilot Dick Rutan in December 2006. Mr. Clague is also a veteran U.S. Marine.
Paul Eckert, Ph.D.
As International and Commercial Strategist for Boeing's Space Exploration division, Dr. Eckert develops strategies to strengthen global business relationships and explore new commercial markets. He has become increasingly active in writing and speaking about the importance of international industrial cooperation to encourage innovation. Since joining the Boeing Company in 2003, Dr. Eckert has played a variety of roles, facilitating space exploration planning, infrastructure design, Earth observation, space science, government relations, and communications. In 2001 and 2002, Dr. Eckert served as a Technology Policy Analyst in the Office of Space Commercialization, U.S. Department of Commerce, Washington, D.C., helping to develop policies promoting growth of the commercial space industry, both domestically and internationally. From 1999 through 2000, he was a Legislative Affairs Specialist at NASA, with responsibility for liaison with the U.S. Congress involving space and aeronautics, information technology, systems engineering, and technology transfer to industry. In 1997 and 1998, Dr. Eckert was science and technology advisor to U.S. Senator John Breaux, a prominent member of the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, having received a Congressional Science and Engineering Fellowship through the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). From 1986 through 1997, he gained expertise in productivity enhancement, as Director of Quality Improvement for a division of Henry Ford Health System. Dr. Eckert holds a bachelor's degree with high honors in history from Harvard University, and a doctoral degree in psychology from Michigan State University, supplemented by postdoctoral training in organizational development. He is fluent in French and active in promoting international publicprivate partnerships to stimulate economic growth.
Chris Faranetta
Chris Faranetta is Vice President of Space Adventures' Orbital Spaceflight Program. Previously, he helped forge early joint U.S./Russian space efforts while serving as International Liaison to the Space Studies Institute (SSI) in Princeton N.J. Following his work at SSI Mr. Faranetta founded and co-managed the Americas office of Rocket Space Corporation Energia (RSC Energia) to support the development of new U.S./Russian space ventures. While working for RSC Energia Russia's prime contractor for manned spacecraft technology Mr. Faranetta gained valuable exposure to flight operations during the Shuttle/Mir program. Following his position with RSC Energia Mr. Faranetta worked with emerging companies to formulate and identify new markets for advanced manned space technologies. His love for the development of orbital and sub-orbital private space exploration drew him to Space Adventures where he now serves as vice president for the company's orbital program.
Ken Gosier
Ken Gosier works in quantitative finance, supporting the Commodities trading desk at Barclay's Capital in Manhattan. He worked at NASA/Goddard for 2 years before moving to finance. He is a member of the Space Adventures Spaceflight Club, and seeks to make it into space sometime in the near future.

Lisa A. Guerra
Lisa Guerra has 20 years experience in the NASA aerospace community. Currently, Ms. Guerra holds the position of Acting Director of the Directorate Integration Office in the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters. Her current responsibilities involve strategic planning, crossdirectorate coordination, architecture analysis, and exploration control boards. Prior to this assignment, Ms. Guerra worked in the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate, the Biological and Physical Research Enterprise and the Space Science Enterprise in the capacity as Special Assistant to the Associate Administrator. Ms Guerra also spent 3 years at the Goddard Space Flight Center as Program Integration Manager for future high-energy astrophysics missions, particularly the James Webb Space Telescope. Ms. Guerra started her career at Eagle Engineering Corporation in Houston focusing on conceptual design of advanced spacecraft for human missions to the Moon and Mars. Ms. Guerra continued working on space exploration-oriented assignments at SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation) in support of NASA's Johnson Space Center. Ms. Guerra earned a B.S in Aerospace Engineering and a B.A. in English from the University of Notre Dame. She received a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Her Master's thesis, "A Commonality Assessment of Lunar Surface Habitation", was performed under a research grant from the Johnson Space Center. She is the author of over twenty papers in conference proceedings and professional publications; including her contributions to the McGraw Hill textbook, "Human Spaceflight, Mission Analysis and Design".
Jeff Krukin
Jeff Krukin is an international speaker, writer, analyst, and award-winning leader concerned with commercial space development, space settlement, and The Human-Space ConnectionTM. During his undergraduate studies in Psychology and Sociology at The George Washington University, Jeff became interested in how resource constraints contribute to global conflict. This lead to the Studies of the Future graduate program at the University of Houston/Clear Lake, where he studied space resources and deepened his belief that space settlement and development are necessary for prosperity, liberty and peace. Jeff 's first space article was published in 1981, the year he completed his graduate internship at NASA Headquarters and became an IBM Systems Engineer at NASA's Johnson Space Center. In the early-1990's he began speaking at conferences about the settlement and development of space. Combining his passions for space and writing, in the early 1990's he wrote a monthly column entitled "Think About It," which appeared for several years in the Journal for Space Development and other space newsletters. He has also been published in Space News, the Houston Chronicle, the Houston Business Journal, and on websites such as Spacedaily.com and Betterhumans.com. Chelsea House will publish his first book essays, specifically written for high school students, in a multi-author collection in Spring 2005. Jeff is also a noted conference speaker and has been interviewed on radio and television news programs. Invited to become a Space Frontier Foundation Advocate in 1990, Jeff became a Board Member in 1995, and the first Director of Advocates the following year. In 1997 he left the Foundation to become a ProSpace Board Member and Director of the 1998 and 1999 March Storm lobbying events. In 1998 he received the ProSpace Activist of the Year Award. In 1999 he became Vice President and continued as Director of March Storm. Jeff became Chairman in 2002 and served until 2004. In addition to the Foundation, Jeff is on the Steering Committee of the International Association of Space Entrepreneurs and is the advisor to the Director of the North Carolina Space Initiative at NC State University.
Lon Levin
Lon Levin is the Chief Strategic Officer for Transformational Space, or t/Space, one of the six finalists for the NASA COTS program. He is the cofounder of XM Satellite Radio. He played an integral role in the formation and development of other space based businesses including Mobile Satellite Ventures, American Mobile Satellite Corporation, Terrestar Networks, and XM Canada. He is on the board of directors of the Space Foundation and International Association of Space Entrepreneurs. He is on the Board of Governors of the National Space Society.
David M. Livingston, DBA
Dr. Livingston is an adjunct professor at the University of North Dakota Graduate School of Space Studies, both on campus and in their distant learning program, specializing in space commerce economics, ethics, and management classes. He has also served as an adjunct professor in the Graduate School of Business at Golden Gate University teaching Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management and he has guest lectured at other university programs including Stanford University and Sonoma State University. He earned his BA from the University of Arizona, his MBA in International Business Management from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, and his Doctorate

in Business Administration (DBA) also at Golden Gate University. His doctoral dissertation was titled Outer Space Commerce: Its History and Prospects. Dr. David Livingston is the founder and host of The Space Show, the nation's only talk radio show focusing on increasing space commerce, developing space tourism, and facilitating our move to a space-faring economy and culture. The Space Show is broadcast multiple times per week on radio and the internet. Past show archives, listening information, and coming events can be found at www.thespaceshow.com. The Space Show is fully licensed to the newly formed One Giant Leap Foundation (OGLF) which Dr. Livingston started to promote his special type of space education. OGLF is a 501(C)3 public benefit tax exempt foundation. Livingston has spoken at or had his papers presented at various international space conferences, including Space and Robotics 98, 2000, and 2002, the Mars Society conferences of 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002, 2003, and 2005, the Lunar Development Conference 2000 and 2001, the IAA 2000, the Cato Institute in March 2001, and the National Space Society Conference in May 2002, the World Space Conference in Houston in 2000, Space Access 2005, Space Exploration 2005, AIAA in Long Beach in 2005, ATWG NASA Ames in October 2005, the International Conference of Nanotechnology in San Francisco in November 2005, and more. His lecture topics include venture capital for space investments, RLVs and space tourism, effective business, strategic and assumption planning, along with developing the solutions to the barriers to space enterprise, talking to the public about space, tracing the dollars spent on space through the economy, business ethics and corporate responsibility for off-Earth business ventures and New Space Industries, and observations about space development based on his radio show experience. Dr. Livingston has written a Code of Ethics for Off-Earth Commerce. His Code of Ethics for Off-Earth Businesses has been widely published and revised. Dr. Livingston has appeared as a guest with both Art Bell and George Noory on the Coast to Coast radio program discussing space commerce and tourism, Red FM in Cork, Ireland discussing space tourism and providing regular space news updates when called upon, and as a guest on other national talk shows, both on the radio and the internet. Dr. Livingston is also a contributing author to the newly published book, Beyond Earth: The Future of Humans In Space. His chapter, "Making Space A Popular Goal," documents how to move forward to a space-faring culture based on nearly five years of hosting The Space Show. Dr. Livingston is also part of a new group with Barbara Marx Hubbard, Howard Bloom and others to raise the consciousness of people regarding the value and importance of space settlement and development for humanity. When not teaching, occupied, or working with space matters, Livingston is a business consultant, financial advisor, and strategic planner. For more than twenty-five years, he has worked in oil and gas exploration, real estate development sales, the finance and security industry as well as in marketing and direct advertising sales.
James S. Logan, MD, MS
Dr. Jim Logan is a seventeen year veteran of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Board certified in Aerospace Medicine, he held numerous positions at NASA including Chief of Flight Medicine (personal physician to the astronauts and their families), Chief of Medical Operations, Chief of Medical Informatics & Health Care Systems and life science liaison to the Space Station Program Office. A founding board member of the American Telemedicine Association, Dr. Logan is a former Provost of International Space University in Strasbourg, France as well as a consultant for the RAND Corporation. His consulting and lecturing activities have taken him to Australia, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Iceland, Russia, Argentina, Costa Rica, Guam, South Korea, and the Peoples Republic of China. He is a lifetime recipient of NASA's Distinguished Speaker Award. He has been featured on the Public Broadcast System (PBS) and CanadaAM.
Molly K. Macauley
Macauley's research interests include space economics and policy, the economics of new technologies, recycling and solid waste management, urban transportation policy, and the use of economic incentives in environmental regulation. She also directs RFF's academic programs, which include the RFF Seminar Series and fellowship and internship programs. Macauley has served on numerous special committees of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. She also serves as president of the board of advisers for the Thomas Jefferson Program in Public Policy at the College of William and Mary. Macauley has testified extensively before Congress and is the author of more than 80 articles, reports, and books.
John C. Mankins
John C. Mankins is the President of ARTEMIS Innovation Management Solutions LLC, a management consulting, research and development start-up focusing on solving tough innovation challenges for government, industry and not-for-profit clients. Mr. Mankins is an internationally recognized leader in space systems and technology innovation, and as a highly effective manager of large-scale technology R&D programs. His 25-year career at NASA ranged from flight projects and space mission operations, to systems-level innovation and advanced technology research & development management. He is also well known as an innovator in R&D management, and was one of the creators of the widely used "technology readiness level" (TRL) scale for technology assessment.

Before leaving NASA, Mr. Mankins was the manager of Exploration Systems Research and Technology within the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate with responsibility for an $800M annual budget, involving more than 100 individual projects and over 3,000 personnel. For 10 years, he was the manager of Advanced Concepts Studies at NASA, and was the lead for critical studies of space solar power, highly reusable space transportation, affordable human exploration approaches, and other topics. He was the creator or co-creator of numerous novel concepts, including the "MagLifter' electromagnetic launch assist system, the Internet-based NASA "Virtual Research Center" the "Solar Clipper" interplanetary transport vehicle, the "SunTower" space solar power system, the "Hybrid Propellant Module" for in-space refueling, the "HabBot" mobile planetary outpost architecture, the Advanced Technology Life cycle Analysis System (ATLAS), and others. In recognition of his accomplishments, he has received numerous awards and honors, including the prestigious NASA Exceptional Technology Achievement Medal (of which he was the first recipient). He holds undergraduate (Harvey Mudd College) and graduate (UCLA) degrees in Physics and an MBA in Public Policy Analysis (The Drucker School at Claremont Graduate University). Mr. Mankins is a member of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and the Sigma Xi Research Society. Mr. Mankins is an accomplished communicator, including political, programmatic, technical and lay audiences. He has authored or co-authored more than 70 published papers, reports and other technical documents, and has testified before Congress on several occasions, and has been consulted on R&D management and space issues with organizations in the U.S. and internationally.
Benigno Muniz Jr.
Benigno Muniz Jr., founding Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of Constellation Services International, is a space systems engineer with 24 years of interdisciplinary industry experience in systems engineering and project management. He has successfully managed projects and conducted analysis on spacecraft and aircraft programs ranging from preliminary concept design, to ground and flight test, to production flight hardware. Prior to CSI, he was a Senior Staff Engineer in the Space Systems Architecture group at Hughes Space & Communications (HSC), where he served as HSC's leader of Competitive Technical Intelligence and was responsible for assessing competitors' capabilities and emerging technologies within the communications satellite industry. Before that, he was employed at the Rocketdyne Division of Rockwell International as Lead Engineer for On-Orbit Structural Loads and Dynamics on NASA's Space Station Freedom/international Space Station Alpha program. He started his career as a Dynamics Engineer at Grumman Aerospace. Mr. Muniz is an accomplished team leader, and his honors and awards include a NASA Group Achievement Award, a Rocketdyne Manager's Award, election as a Senior Member in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), a listing in Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and the Space Frontier Foundation's "Service to the Foundation" award in 1998. As a volunteer, he has served in elected leadership roles in the Space Frontier Foundation, National Space Society, and the California Space Development Council. Mr. Muniz holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson College of Technology, a Certificate in Astronautical Engineering from UCLA (Extension), and Certificate with Honors from the International Space University 1994 Summer Session in Barcelona, Spain.
Dr. George C. Nield
Dr. George C. Nield serves as the Deputy Associate Administrator for Commercial Space Transportation at the FAA. He has over 30 years of aerospace experience with the Air Force, at NASA, and in private industry. Dr. Nield came to the FAA from the Orbital Sciences Corporation, where he served as Senior Scientist for the Advanced Programs Group. His previous assignments include working as an Astronautical Engineer at the Space and Missile Systems Organization, a Flight Test Engineer at the Air Force Flight Test Center, and an Assistant Professor and Research Director at the USAF Academy. He was the Manager of the Flight Integration Office for the Space Shuttle Program at the NASA Johnson Space Center, and later worked on both the Shuttle/Mir Program and the International Space Station Program. A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, he holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University, and an MBA from George Washington University. He is also a Flight Test Engineering graduate of the USAF Test Pilot School. Dr. Nield is a registered Professional Engineer and a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
Misuzu Onuki
Ms. Misuzu Onuki has been an innovator in the development of space tourism and space commercialization research for over 15 years, and participated in some of the earliest studies of commercial space travel in Japan and other countries for NAL (now JAXA). She worked for the Space Systems Division of Shimizu Corporation, one of the largest general construction companies in Japan. She founded the Japan Women's Space Forum. Ms. Onuki has been an independent aerospace business consultant; as well as an associate researcher of Japan Women's University since 2003. Her space related research themes are space tourism, space commercialization, space architecture,

space education, space psychology, space casual wear, space food, space healing, and so on. She is the CEO of Zspace LLC, and has been doing professional space business development and consulting work in these fields as well. She has created space cultural projects such as Fashion in Space and Weddings in Space. She has several professional affiliations such as the Space Frontier Foundation, Advocate & Asia Liaison since 2005. Certification: Color Coordinator.
Berin M. Szoka
Berin Szoka is an associate in Latham & Watkins Washington, D.C. office and is a member of the Corporate Department and Communications Practice Group. Mr. Szoka's practice focuses on the communications, new media and space industries. He has experience in satellite licensing, FCC enforcement actions, equipment authorizations, wireless services and telecommunications relay services for the hearing-impaired. Mr. Szoka is a member of the Federal Communications Bar Association, the Society of Satellite Professionals International, the Society for International Affairs, the American Bar Association, the Washington Space Business Roundtable, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the International Association of Space Entrepreneurs and the National Space Society. Mr. Szoka has chaired the legal tracks at the International Space Development Conference, the Return to the Moon Conference and the Space Frontier Conference. He has spoken about the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, space law, commercial human spaceflight regulation and relevant aspects of state law at these conferences and others, including the Lunar Commerce Roundtable and the Space Access Society Conference. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Szoka served as a law clerk to the Honorable H. Dale Cook, Senior United States District Judge for the Northern District of Oklahoma from 2004 to 2005. He is conversant in French.
Jeff Volosin
Jeff Volosin is the lead for the NASA led global exploration strategy development effort. He works in the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington D.C. Mr. Volosin is an aerospace engineer with 20 years of experience in spacecraft systems engineering and has worked on both human spaceflight programs as well as on earth and space science robotic missions. He is also an adjunct professor in the aerospace engineering department of Capitol College in Laurel, Maryland.
Laura S. Woodmansee
Sex inSpace author Laura S. Woodmansee is a Science Journalist, Entrepreneur, and volunteer Solar System Ambassador. Her goal is to reawaken the public's interest in what our exciting Universe has to offer. A member of the National Association of Science Writers, Laura earned her Master's degree in Broadcast Journalism from USC's Annenberg School for Journalism.
