*** PRESS RELEASE ***
COMMUNITY POLICY FORUM TO BE HELD IN
EXCELSIOR DISTRICT ON YOUTH ISSUES
Mayor's community forum to focus on how the city can support youth and
their families

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -Mayor Gavin Newsom today announced that the next
community policy forum will be held at the Excelsior Boys and Girls Club on
Saturday April 21 at 2:00pm. The Excelsior District meeting will focus on
San Francisco's children, youth, and their families in recognition of April
as "SF Kids Month."

The forum will continue the Mayor's commitment to discussing important
policy issues in San Francisco's communities. In January, Mayor Newsom
hosted a meeting focused on homelessness and its impact on neighborhoods
from the Richmond to the Tenderloin. In February, the Mayor joined hundreds
of Bayview Hunters Point residents at the Whitney Young Child Development
Center to discuss Communities of Opportunity and what the City is doing to
address issues of crime, poverty, sub-standard housing and education. Last
month, residents from the Mission District came together to learn about the
City's Health Access Plan (HAP) and the need to do more to provide
consistent, reliable, affordable healthcare for all San Franciscans
regardless of income level.

The Excelsior District policy forum will be held on Saturday, April 21,
2007 at 2:00pm at the Excelsior Boys and Girls Club 163 London Street (at
Excelsior Avenue). Daycare will be provided.
