DTH is a new technology and it has matured to its fullpotential in other parts of the world. There are manyapplication has been found everyday for exploitation of benefits of DTH? The word ‘DTH’ is synonymous with transmission of digitalvideo channel to home subscriber’s using a small dishantenna. The DTH utilizes a technology which enables a hometo receive high speed internet broadband access datacommunication, voice over internet protocol (IP) telephonyand much more using an open standard Digital VideoBroadcasting (DVB) technology. The video channels arereceived with a suitable set top box. Capable of demodulatingMotion Picture Engineering Group (MPEG-2) standard videos. Itis for the return channel required for other services such asvoice over internet protocol and broadband access datacommunications, that a return channel is also required for thehome terminal. The return channel via the satellite is calledRCS and is an open standard.Hardware compatible with DVB-RCS technology are readilyavailable in the market in both Ku-band and C-band. DVB-RCSis an international open standard for multimedia satellitenetwork where the return data rates in access of 2 Mbps arepossible using low cost user terminals. The forward ink isusually at 40 Mbps. Today, most satellite TV customers in developed televisionmarkets get their programming through a direct broadcastsatellite (DBS) provider, such as DISH TV or DTH platform. Theprovider selects programs and broadcasts them to subscribers as
