How It Works
On each computer that sends andreceives SendItSecure™ messages, thereis a SendItSecure™ client program. Thisprogram has functions for both sendingand receiving e-mails. If you useMicrosoft Outlook, SendItSecure™ plugsinto Outlook through its extensiblearchitecture. If you use some other e-mail system, even a web-based one,SendItSecure™ has its own userinterface.The SendItSecure™ client interactswith SafeLive Corporation’s secure serverin order to authenticate users based on afingerprint. When you send a message,the server authenticates your fingerprintand generates a unique encryption keythat is used to encrypt the message. Foreach message that is received, theserver authenticates the receiver'sfingerprint and returns the encryptionkey to the receiver so that the messagecan be decrypted.The encrypted message itself is sentthrough ordinary e-mail servers asattachments to normal e-mails. Whenthe receiver gets one of these e-mails,the SendItSecure™ client program willautomatically be activated for thepurpose of authenticating the user anddecrypting the message.
