Here is how families inthe AZ Strip area can access food stampsand medicaid for the next few months if they can't travel to Kingman or Page:
 
Kae Williams will be at the Canyonlands Clinic inBeaver Dawn, AZ the first and 3rd Tuesday of eachmonth. No appointment is needed but you mayneed to be prepared to wait in line.

UEP Board for the Hilldale UT/Colorado City AZarea was discussed
 – list of those finalist wereannounced a few weeks previous – there is nofurther information at this time re: the finalselection.
 
Review of minutes from March 2014 Safety Netmeeting were discussed and approved.Introduction of Rebecca Fairbanks, new ClinicalCoordinator, Safety Net ProgramJake Marino from State Office of VocationalRehabilitation of Utah gave a presentation, BeckyDeHart from Arizona Vocational Rehabilitationprogram also shared additional information.
 
Jake told how this organization can be a fabulousresource for all who qualify. USOR Website is –www.usor.utah.gov. Utah State Office of Rehabilitation for Utah residents with a Utahaddress is an under-utilized resource and it wouldbe a great benefit to many, to learn what willqualify a person to receive these benefits. Arizona’s program and qualifications are verysimilar and also need to be utilized. Mission of Voc Rehab organization: is to assisteligible individuals w/disabilities who have abarrier to employment because of their disabilities. All in attendance watched a 10 minuteintroductory video that explained about VRservices. They provide individualized, customizedservices helping people with disability relatedbarriers to overcome their barriers and developself-reliance to gain employment. Sometimes theyserve people with mental impairments who are

VR Counselorsand clients develop an Individualized Plan forEmployment (IPE), that can include services such ascounseling and guidance, restoration services,assistive technology, job placement, education,and on-the-job training. They do a financialassessment as part of their services, so a client canpay in part if they have resources.

Jake also shared the resource UCAT – Utah Centerfor Assistive Technology, they can work withpeople with disabilities too, www.ucat.utah.gov. Their office is based in Salt Lake City, but they canserve the whole state of Utah.
 
VR = Vocational Rehabilitation, have counselorswho determine eligibility, based on if a person hasa significant physical or mental impairment thatimpedes employment, requiring VR services andthe person would benefit from services. Theyserve people with chronic disabilities, and cansometimes help refer someone to other assistance(because they need documentation of the disabilitytoo).Becky DeHart from the Arizona Rehabilitationoffice shared about Arizona resources. Right nowtheir program is only able to service priority cases,usually including people with barriers tointerpersonal skills, social skills, andcommunication skills. They do encourage allpeople to apply (as this can show needs to thelegislature that may open up new options forfunding). They do provide information andreferral.
 
Agency updates:
Candice Babb – Arizona is looking for businesses tohave kiosks to be a resource for people to sign upfor medical coverage, finger imaging program etc. So these services are more available to those inneed.
 
Cindy Trembley: AZ CPS has a new name, it is thesame work now called: Division of Child Safety andFamily Services
 
Steven Sullivan: announced that Shirley Owen –retired that he learned much at the Safety NetTraining titled: Foundations for Communication forVictims of Trauma and want to expand and have hiswhole division learn from the presenter.Hillary Health wants to do a story that is viable andauthentic and genuine, she is looking to see if there is a story she could do in the Colorado Cityarea for a documentary (with A and E).
 
Janae’e Green: works at Page AZ Regional DVServices, she has a 75 mile radius for grants, sheshared about there great work and their shelter,thrift store, house voucher program and the makingchange program. They are in the process of
