Soul Curry!!!!
IT was a cloudy may morning. I was lying asleep on my bed.My mother came up to me. She woke me up to get ready forthe school. I could feel the warmth of her affection. I was stillsleepy but she managed to get me out of the quilt andwrapping me up in her hands, she took me out in ourbalcony. She then made me sit on a knitted swing thathanged up on a hook there. My eyes were closed but I couldfeel the sunlight. As I opened my eyes a little, I could noticethe sky full of clouds, where slowly sun was rising above thehorizon. It would have been around six in the morning. Allthe houses in my vision were still wet.“May be it would have rained all night!” I was imaginingvarious things all by my self when something touched mylips. It was the glass of milk, my mother had brought for meto drink. It began to drizzle by then. I started taking smallsips when my mother noticed that I was almost awake. Shetold me to hold the glass and finish the milk while she did allother preparations. However, to her shock I was shivering.Earlier she associated it with the cold weather, though fewseconds later she noticed froth all around my mouth. Shescreamed and called my dad. She was really scared. I was just 8 then. My dad took me in his lap and headed towardsthe door. He told my mother not to worry and took me to adoctor who lived few houses away from ours. My chachaaccompanied us. There, after the check up, doctor injectedsome medicine and made an assumption that a worm hasentered my brain. He then suggested my dad to headtowards the hospital. He took me back to our home to fetch his bike. But when wereached home, he realized that his bike was at a friend’splace. Uncle’s house was at the extreme corner of the streetwe lived at. He then went to pick the bike but all in vein. Ithad started raining heavily by then and as obvious, it wasimpossible to take the bike in such heavy rain especially

when our street was overflowing with water, which couldalmost reach his knees. He had no option but to take me back home. I lied in bedwith fever and my mother sitting beside me with tears in hereyes, worry on her face, and one hand over my headconsoling me and with the other, she held my hand.Later that day I went for city scan with dad. Obviously a lotof anxious moments were spent before the reports arrived.Nevertheless, the reports were a relief. After the reportscame, the doctor told my dad that the worm had formed acyst in a tiny portion of my brain. However, he assured mydad that everything was normal. Firstly, the cyst was verysmall. Secondly, though it was a rare case, but the cyst hadformed on an outer part that could not affect my brain andharm me in anyway. My medication began and it took 3 long years for it to end.Meanwhile I went through few EEGs as well. Nevertheless, not only the cyst completely disappeared, but also doctorswere amazed to see that I was completely all right!Another case when something unusual happened in our lifeand things were all good in the end was the birth of myyounger brother. At the time of my younger brother’s birth, my mother wassupposed to go through a caesarian delivery as she had aproblem of abnormally placed placenta. The baby washeavy as well and we were all worried thinking of hercomplications.
