Center for Interface Science: Solar Electric Materials (CIS:SEM)
Vision:CIS:HSEM will become a national resource for:i)understanding and controlling the interface scienceunderlying solar energy conversion technologiesbased on organic and organic-inorganic hybridmaterials;ii)inspiring, recruiting and training future scientistsand leaders in the basic science of solar electricenergy conversion.RESEARCH PLAN AND DIRECTIONSCharacterize & control of composition and structure of interfaces betweennanostructured organic semiconductors and oxides or metals. Interfaceslimit the energy conversion efficiencies and scale-up of Generation IIIsolar cells. New materials and characterization methods will enablescientific understandings that lead to future low-cost solar-electric energyconversion technologies with unprecedented performance .
