Barnett Reservoir Boat Show May 10-11

RIDGELAND Against the beautiful backdrop that is The Rez, the first Barnett Reservoir Boat Show will be held May 10-11 at Madison Landing in Ridgeland. Local dealers will display a full range of watercraft from kayaks to personal watercraft, and pontoon boats to bass boats on the north end of the parking lot near Old Trace Park. Admission is free to the public. We didnt have a big boat show in the Metro area this year, so we came up with the idea of staging one on the shores of the very lake many of the boats sold would be used, said Dale Shepherd, chairman of the event for the sponsoring Barnett Reservoir Foundation. This is a unique opportunity for the dealers and for the public, since being lakeside there is the capability of on-the-water test drives. Participating marine dealers include Duncan Marine, Jackson Motor Sports, Ride South, RJs Outboards Sales and Service, Smith Marine and Sunset Marina. Action Marine, an on-site boat service company, and SeaTow, a marine rescue company, will also have exhibits. Shepherd said show hours are 9 a.m. to dark on Saturday, and noon to 5 on Sunday. Even though Sunday is Mothers Day, I know some of the dealers are excited about having families out to look at pontoon boats, pleasure craft and even fishing boats, he said. This is an opportunity to compare all the makes and models and shop for the best deals, all in one place.
