News from Mrs. Plainte’s Room
The leaves have turned and many have blown away (from the looks of it, rightinto my yard). The winter is upon us, but with that comes the joyous holidayseasons that bring such a glow to our hearts. I don’t know about you, but atthis rate all I want for Christmas is my H1N1 vaccine! I’m sure your child hasshared the Plainte family news; we are expecting our second child at thebeginning of June. While Mom has been healthy and feeling great, I amnervous about the fact that I am at greater risk of complications due to theH1N1 virus. I am asking, on the behalf of your children and their health aswell as mine, that if your child exhibits any signs of illness, including cough, headache, fever, or stomachache, please keep them home. While this virus isno more serious than a “bad cold” for the majority, for a tiny percentage itcan be very dangerous. I am one of the biggest “suck it up” advocates ever, however, when I considered Brennan may be making other children sick or atgreater risk herself of becoming ill because of compromised immune system, Idetermined missing a day of school wouldn’t affect her long term goals in thegrand scheme of things.
The H1N1 vaccine will become available November 17; please consider havingyour child vaccinated. Also, keep in mind that the vaccine will not have full effectfor two weeks (around December 1), so remain vigilant during this period.
“The weather outside is frightful…” be sure your child is wearing a winter coat.
The student’s ecosystems will be ready for pickup soon. They are not to gohome on the bus, so please be sure make the trip to take it home. I will donatethem if they are not removed before Thanksgiving.
