Halloween has comeand gone, and, by the looksof things, everyone haskept their arms and legsinside the ride at all timesand survived another para-normally challengingmonth. With that, happyNovember to everyone. As winter creeps up on us(some of us, anyway), somegroups may be looking atquieter times on the hori-zon. These are the timeswhen team building activi-ties become an importantpart of your organization.Rather than sitting backtwiddling your thumbs dueto lack of investigations, continue your weeklymeetings, schedule a movienight, go for coffee, anddiscuss alternate topics. What better time to get toknow the people on yourteam on a more personallevel outside the investiga-tive setting.Suggestions, questions, comments or concerns per-taining to this article oranything contained hereinmay be sent to:ddesjdins@paranexus.orgor admin@paranexus.orgI look forward to receivingyour feedback.
After a year and a half inexistence, ParaNexus isemerging as a reputable, respected, and groundedassociation of anomalousresearchers. Recentmonths have brought aboutsignificant and positivechanges to ParaNexus. Wehave incorporated as a non-profit association and arefiling for our 501(c)(3) taxexempt status with the IRSin the next few days (ourapplication is currently being reviewed by pro-fessionals for completeness). We have addedsome additional individuals to the Board ofDirectors who have demonstrated a groundedand rational approach to anomalous research. We now have eight Board Members with im-pressive academic, paranormal, and life-skillscredentials who have accepted the weightyresponsibility of providing direction and visionto ParaNexus in the months and years to come. Infact, some Board Members have been asked to consulton potential documentary projects for popular andwell-known scientific TV channels.
With ParaNexus‟ future in mind, the Board of Direc-
tors has decided to bring membership dues in linewith other associations in the broad field of anoma-lous research. Most associations in the field have duesthat range from around $45 to over $100 annually with$55 - $65 being common. Most professional associa-tions outside the paranormal field charge well over$100 for annual membership dues. Membership duesare a primary method that most associations use forfinancial support of their charitable missions,ParaNexus included. Therefore, effective December
1, 2009, ParaNexus‟ annual
memberships will be $59, andmonthly membership subscrip-tions will be $6.50. All currentannual and monthly members

Zoom H2
Digital Voice Recorder
By Dr Ingrid Irwin
The Zoom H2 is a simple idea, provide brilliantstereo recording in an easy-to-use, ultra-portabledevice. The outer case resembles a vintage studiomicrophone but the designers of this recorder tookadvantage of every inch of its surface area. Everyarea of this recorder has a feature and the under-neath has a small door hiding the memory slot plusa very handy threaded metal insert for attaching toa screw-in stand. When it comes to EVP, this is the highest qual-ity recorder to consider. There are higher qualitydevises than the Zoom H2, but most have featuresthat are not necessary for EVP recording. The Zoom H2 records in high quality and fea-tures a unique 360 degrees pick up pattern and abuilt in audio interface. The front pair is angled90° apart and the rear pair is angled 120° and ithas a four-microphone setup. This opens the doorto recording in 360°. This is of particular interestas it means that if the anomalous voice captured isdirectional, this recorder will pick up the voicefrom a specific direction. This recorder allows youto experiment with directional recording very eas-ily in any room. The recording quality is clear and accurate andthis means a rarer chance that a noise recordedwill be mistaken for a possible voice; this may helpeliminate false positives to a larger degree. The Zoom H2 also comes with a handy screw-instand enabling the recorder to be placed anywhere in aroom while investigating, so holding or laying the re-corder is not required. This is a seriously good recorder; virtually every-thing you would ever need is in this unit. It is more ex-pensive, but eBay or Amazon do have reasonable priceson them.
