Siouxland Habitat for Humanity Advocates forNeighborhood Revitalization and Secure Tenure onWorld Habitat Day 2009

In recognition of World Habitat Day 2009, Habitat forHumanity affiliates in Iowa will address the lack of decent housing around the world,including the need for affordable housing across the state of Iowa.This year, in conjunction with World Habitat Day, the Siouxland Sleep Out organizationwill hold its annual press conference promoting the need for decent, affordable housingin Siouxland. The Siouxland Coalition to End Homelessness will also be present insupport of World Habitat Day.

moreavailable housing for low income individuals. Currently the need for better housing isnot being met, and people need to take a stand to promote equal housing opportunities
and stabilized economic conditions for the betterment of our communities,” says Teres

Focusing on this year’s themes, secure tenure and neighborhood revitalization, Habitat
for Humanity affiliates in Iowa will bring awareness to the need for affordable housing in
Iowa by beginning to create the “House of 20,000 Signatures.” Affiliates will set
-upinformational booths across the state to educate about affordable housing, Habitat for
Humanity, and collect signatures of 2’x4’s that will be used to construct a house in front
of the Iowa statehouse in April 2010. The goal for affiliates is to collect 20,000signatures from across the state.
