Giving the date

In French, days of the week and months don't take a capital letter unless they start the
sentence, for example:
mercredi 11 dcembre
vendredi 21 mars
What's the date today?
You can answer the question Quelle est la date d'aujourd'hui? (What's the date today?) in
three ways:
On est...
C'est...
Nous sommes + le + (day) + date + month (+ year)
For example:
On est le (dimanche) dix-huit mai (2008) (It's Sunday 18 May 2008)
On the first day of the month, you must use premier (1er), eg: C'est le premier
mai (It's May 1st)
What day is it?
To answer the question Quel jour sommes-nous? (What day is it?) use one of the following
phrases:
On est...
C'est...
Nous sommes... + day
On est samedi.
