August 22, 2006 Editor: Shelly Willingham
Speed Students,Welcome back to another Fallsemester here at the SpeedSchool of Engineering! For thoseof you who don't know me, myname is Tony Harper, and I'm thePresident of the Speed SchoolStudent Council. I want to ex-tend a welcome to all new stu-dents; I'm sure you'll find Speedto be as fine a school as there is,and hope you the best of luck inyour engineering education. There are a number of things go-ing on this Fall that I would liketo inform you about, as they im- pact all of us here at Speed. Firstof all, the Kersey Library Build-ing no longer houses Speed's book collection. As has beendiscussed for a number of months, all books that were for-merly housed at Kersey can now be found at the Ekstrom library inthe center of campus. The li- brarians there can help you tolocate any resources that youneed, aswell ashelp you touse thenew Auto-mated Re-trieval Sys-tem inwhich many of these books will be held.Since Kersey will no longer be alibrary, its space will temporarily be given over to two claimants: parts of the first floor will beused as student study space, while the second floor will beused by the new Freshman Engi-neering class. At the time of thiswriting, this study space is notquite ready for student use, sointerested students should use theEkstrom li- brary for thenext fewweeks whilethe shelvesare beingmoved out. Once that is com- pleted, students may use the li- brary during daytime and eveninghours.
