Student Tablet Users Group launches TabletPC website and Tablet Tips podcast
by Jared Hatfield, Editor The Student Tablet UsersGroup (STUG) is a rather new or-ganization at Speed School. As asub-committee of the Speed SchoolStudent Council, STUG works tohelp educate students on how to better use their Tablet PC in class.Last semester, STUG presentedhow to effectively use OneNote totake notes in EAC. The presenta-tion was given to every section of the GES 101 class. This semester looks bright as many small projectshave already been launched. The
first of these projects is STUG’s
website, which has undergone rapiddevelopment. It can be reached bynavigating to:http://speedcouncil.org/STUGThe website is still being devel-oped but already contains severalcontains tutorials, FAQ, polls, andother useful information. The big-gest part of the website will beTablet Tips, a instructional videoseries that explains how to do dif-ferent things using a Tablet PC.The first two episodes explain howto set up DyKnow and how to useJournal to complete EAC home-work. The third episode is a reviewof the HP Compaq tc4400 TabletPC. More episodes are being re-leased regularly on a wide varietyof topics.Tablet Tips is available from avariety of sources. First, it can be
streamed directly from STUG’s
website. Also, it is available on
YouTube at STUG’s YouTube
Channel, SpeedSTUG. Lastly,Tablet Tips is available in podcastform for iPods and Zunes by sub-
scribing directly from STUG’s
website.STUG has lofty goals for Tab-let Tips. The current plan is tomake videos that are directed to-
ward future students and students’
parents explaining the Tablet PC program and the different aspectsof using a Tablet PC.STUG is currently looking for additional members, those inter-ested should contact STUG throughtheir website. Anyone who has aninterest in using their tablet better or those who want to help educateother students are invited to join.STUG also provides answers toquestions about using Tablets toanyone. Currently, the activeSTUG members consist of TravisCook, Jared Hatfield, and StevenRyan.
