Freshman council sets goals for the future

This re-source is designed to help in-form weary freshmen about thedifferent, and possibly hiddenresources of the J.B. SpeedSchool.The Freshman Council is asub-section of the Speed SchoolStudent Council consisting of in-coming freshmen. The councilelected the freshman officers onSeptember 8, 2006, appointingAlex Frommeyer as President,Michele Harpring as vice-presi-dent, and Jared Hatfield as Di-rector of Communication. Thecouncil meets every Friday at3:00PM in the council room lo-cated in the J.B. Speed building.Speed School Student Councilmeetings are every Thrursdayat 12:20 in J.B. Speed 100.The council is designed toserve the freshman student body at Speed by having repre-sentatives who are able to com-municate problems and con-cerns through the proper chan-nels. The active members ofcouncil are listed on the back ofthe Freshman Speed Feed andthose individuals should be ap-proached with any concerns orideas.The council has already setsome goals for the first semes-ter. First, this publication is set to be distributed twice a month.Additionally, the council is in theprocess of planning an activityspecifically for the freshmen atSpeed. Details will be forthcom-ing as the planning processprogresses. Although this is stillin the planning stages, it will pos-sibly involve free food, fundingpending. This event will alsosatisfy the GES attendance re-quirement.Another concern of the coun-cil is gathering and compilinginformation about the new GES101 course. Many people haveexpressed some concerns re-garding the course. The councilhopes to gather information andhelp improve the new class forfuture freshmen. Look for moreinformation about this in futureissues.The council is looking forwardto a productive and exciting se-mester. Those with ideas or con-cerns should contact a repre-sentative.
