I am announcing to my peers and people of the 45
th
House District that I will not  be seeking re-election to the Connecticut House of Representatives this fall. Serving as the voice in Hartford for my constituents over the past 22 years has  been the honor of my life. But as with every endeavor in life, that which has a beginning must also have an end. For me and my service in the House, that end is now. I’ve done my part.  Now it’s time for me to move on and give someone else the opportunity to serve. I did not come to Hartford to make friends in high places. I came to serve the  people and fight for justice. I’m proud of the job I’ve done. I know in my heart that I fought the good fight for my constituents and the people of Connecticut. I believe I made a difference. Do I have any regrets? Yes, one in particular. I regret that government has become increasingly dysfunctional, primarily due to the partisan polarization of our politics. I believed in bipartisanship and always urged Republicans and Democrats to find common ground. Parting is both sweet and sorrowful.
