Velocity 2010 Spring Showcase Rules and Regulations
APPLICATION & ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
All group members must read and sign Rules and Regulations. Failure to abide by thesestatements will result in the disqualification of the entire group involved. No exceptions.
AWARDS:

All finalists will be awarded $100 each
o
Overall winner will be awarded $500 as well as a single day of free recording time in aprofessional studio.
o
Additional awards will be offered throughout the contest.
Applications, fees, demos, and lyric content are due by Wednesday, January 6
th
at 4:30 PM toNew Life Community Church (8155 W Thunderbird Rd, Peoria, AZ 85381). Late applications willnot be accepted, no exceptions.
Each band/artist must submit one demo tape/CD/MP3 link and lyric content as part of theirapplication by the given deadline. Demos will not be returned.
Bands/artists must be between the ages of 12 and 21 years old.
This event is open to amateurs only. For the purpose of this contest, an amateur is somebodywithout a major-label recording contract who makes less than half their annual income byperforming.
Bands/artists will be selected to participate in the contest by a selection committee through Velocity by Friday, January 15
th
.
Doors will open at 5:45pm and performances will begin at 6:00pm sharp.
FACILITIES USE & CONTEST OFFICIALS
A stage manager will be present the night of each event. All bands/artists must cooperate andsupport all decisions made by the stage manager. Failure to comply will affect the bands/artists’ “Cooperation with Contest Officials” score.
All bands/artists are allowed to use the house drum kit. If a band/artist chooses to use their ownkit, the band/artist is responsible for safely and effectively placing the house drum kit back on thestage at the conclusion of their performance and within their allotted time period. Failure to dothis can result in disqualification.
On the day of the performance, band members must be dressed in clothing free fromobscenities, drugs, alcohol, sex, or any other subject matter not suitable for a family audience.
Bands/artists are responsible for their own food and drinks the night of their performance(s). A green room will NOT be provided.
CONDUCT
Entries must be completed in English, but the band may perform their songs in any language.
The use of profanity and/or abusive language will not be tolerated will be turned off.
Fires, pyrotechnics, fog machines, etc. are not allowed.
Bands must not exceed a 120-decibal volume measured from the sound booth. Bands arestrongly encouraged to mic amps to the house system. This will help prevent volumediscrepancies.
Disorderly conduct by one member will result in the disqualification of the entire group. Thisincludes, but is not limited to:
o
Alcohol use
o
Drug use
o
Stage Diving
o
Body Passing
o
throwing objects
o
damaging equipment and/or property of New Life or other contestants
o
In addition, inciting these behaviors will also result in disqualification.
