Causes of pollution
•
Untreated water from residents into thestreams
•
Untreated industrial effluents draining in thestreams
•
Solid wastes dumped near the riverside
•
Ash of cremated bodies thrown in the river
 –
Fully burnt bodies doesn’t pollute
 –
But mostly bodies remain partially unburntwhich
causes pollution
•
Immersion of idols after festivals
 
Residential Effluents
•
Grey Water
•
Grey wateris wastewater generated from domestic activitiessuch as dish washing, laundry and bathing
•
Can be directly used for irrigation purpose-the soap levels atthe dilutions typical are actually good for the garden as theyare a wetting agent
•
After treatment, it can be used in flushing toilet, Washing etc
•
Require no or minimal treatment and hence can be treated atthe source itself and recycled
•
Not much treatment and transportation cost required and sowill break even when resold for irrigation or household
•
Separate plumbing code must be done so that it doesn’t mix
with Black water
of 00
