CompareThis book can be compared to the scholarly article for the outcome of treatment and overcominga relapse. Focusing and exhausting one’s ability to live in the everyday world withoutdepression is a very difficult process when there is no help or hope. Yet, in both circumstancesthe authors have sought out other causes to the depression and any other illnesses that would beaiding it.OpinionWhile this book does offer a great deal of research on depression it also offers further information on its affects to the human body. It goes on to describe different treatment optionsthat can be offered to an individual when other sources have been exhausted. However, someoptions can be life threatening and should be thought out with great care before proceeding.Steven Hollon, Michael Thase, and John Markowitz. "Treatment and Prevention of Depression." His work extends from basic psychopathology to prevention and treatment. He is particularly interested inthe relative contribution of cognitive and biological processes to depression, and how the relativeefficacies of psychosocial versus pharmacological interventions compare. A current interest isthe prevention of depression, both with respect to its initial onset and subsequent recurrencefollowing successful treatment.
