What is OJB Doing?
T
he Organization continues to meetwith Department and City officials to discussthe disparity of treatment and to reduce theequality gaps that minorities are faced withevery day in this Department. We meet withcommunity organizations to collaborate our efforts to address community problems andneeds. We participate in recruiting AfricanAmericans into the Department, and wesupport political candidates who arecommitted to build coalitions to includeminorities in the decision making positionswithin the City and the Department.We pay tuition twice a year for our membersto receive training any where in the UnitedStates or even out of the country, if theydesire. We pay attorney consultation feesor a portion of the legal cost / fees for our members when they initiate law suitsagainst the Department for discrimination or unfair treatment in the work place. Wesupport children in the community by givingscholarships each year along withscholarships for the children of our ownmembers. We provide up to $500.00 a year for college tuition reimbursement for eachmember to encourage our members tocomplete their formal education and enablethem to compete in the promotion processThe below list of activities highlight some of the many activities/accomplishments thatOJB has achieved this year. If you are nota member of OJB, it is our hope that thebelow list of activities / accomplishmentswill inspire you to join this progressiveOrganization.

Vice President of OJBattended the funeral services of our beloved brother Thomas Felix in LasVegas, Nevada. OJB also sent flowers andour love to the Felix family. Brother Felixwill be missed.

OJB attended the funeral services
 
of our beloved brother Ed Burns. OJB supportedour beloved brother by financing theprograms provided for the guests at theservice. Baby Burns will be missed.
August 14, 2008
OJB assisted in hosting a block party with
the residents of Carson for “Jersey”, a
wonderful young child with leukemia. Theneighborhood was turned into a carnivalatmosphere with food and music from blockto block.
