What is Happening in First Grade This Week … Jesus Time …
This week’s stories highlight Naaman and Jonah, Old Testament leaders.
Language Arts
… our stories include our big book selection, Hilda Hen’s Scary Nightand What a Trip! from our anthology; words with clusters with a r; poetry and rhymingwords; categorizing and classifying words.
Math
… we will begin learning strategies for addition. This week’[s strategies arecounting on with 0, 1 or 2, using doubles and almost doubles and using a ten frame.
Handwriting
… we will continue our work on the lower case letters g and u and practiceand review the letters we have learned so far. We will continue to emphasize starting atthe top on all of the letters.We’ll continue our work on owls and working with our address.We will also have a follow up from the Theatre Action Project on Friday!We will also join the second graders and do some special activities with books by authorand illustrator Lois Ehlert.
Pumpkin Farm Field Trip Rescheduled
The trip to the pumpkin farm has been renamed and rescheduled. We are nowgoing to the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm on December 1
st
! It is the same place witha different purpose on a new date. More details will be coming soon!
