Higher Unit Intent:
To recruit, develop, retain, and commissionquality Second Lieutenants in the United States Army in order tomeet the demand of its mission. Those lieutenants are strong inwill, character, and body and excel in most everything they do. They are skilled in fieldcraft, are physically fit, and excel even ontheir worst days, can swim, navigate while dismounted, andhave a positive mental outlook that allows them to overcomeany obstacle, and the brains to figure out how to do it.Attachments/Detachments: NoneWeather: TBDLight Data: Terrain: Ft.Gunpowder Fallsterrain is rollinghills with somepaved and some gravel roads. There are some small buildings andmultiple ranges on the site. The training area is mostly woodedwith some low hanging branches, there are some marshy areas and afew small creeks. Training Effects: Most training will take place during daylight hours tomitigate risk. Night land navigation will take place after EENT IOT gaina maximum training value. Adverse weather conditions including rain,snow, hail, or high wind will require cadets wear appropriate gear IOTmitigate health risks. Weather could make the terrain more risky andthe effects will be addressed at each training location IOT mitigateinjuries.

UPDATED 021300NOV09BN FTX OPORD The Fighting Blue Hen Battalion conducts Fall Field Training Exercise at Ft.Gunpowder Falls, MD from 12NOV09 to 15NOV09 IOT introduce and developCadet’s to military skills necessary for commissioning.
III. ExecutionCommanders Intent:
It is my intent that Cadets participate inmarksmanship training. FLRC, STX lanes and day and night land navIOT better their skills. This is to prepare the MS1s and MS2s for MS3year, the MS3s for LDAC and the MS4s to be 2LTs. My end state is thatall MS3s get evaluated twice during STX lanes and once during FLRC.MS3s will participate in two iterations of day and night land nav andidentified MS4s will also take part in the second iteration day and nightland nav.
Concept of the Operation:
 This operation will be conducted in five phases
Phase I:
Consists of the completion and issuing of BNOPORDER. Site recon, supply coordination, cadre coordination,and ADVON movement to the training location.
Phase II:
Consists of PCIs and movement to the training site.Cadets will be issued supplies and field craft training will beconducted.
Phase III:
Consists of STX lanes and Night Land Nav 1
Phase IV:
Consists of Day Land Nav 1, FLRC, and PMI. Aftercompleting the training MSI/IIs will be transported back to BN forweapons maintenance and equipment recovery. MSIII/IV cadetswill conduct Night Land Nav 2.
Phase V:
Consists of Day Land Nav 2, movement to BN andfinal recovery of all gear.
Maneuver
NLT 30OCT09 C/MAJ Miller and C/LTC Sieber along with CPT Carter andMSG Kammer will conduct a recon of the training site at Ft.Gunpowder Falls, MD IOT determine locations for STX Lanes,Bivouacking and Land Navigation and ensuring that the range andFLRC lanes are in safe and usable order.NLT 06NOV09 Company Commanders will conduct an initial PCI andreport all deficiencies to the BN S4 IOT secure necessary gear toconduct training.12OCT The ADVON party departs in 1 GSA Truck IOT set up BN TOC,STX lane start and end points, including terrain models, and landnavigation check points.Company commanders will assemble their units and prepare them fortransportation to the training site. UPDATED 021300NOV09BN FTX OPORD The transportation plan begins with the movement of all A Co.Detachment cadets moving from DSU to UD IOT link up for the finalPCI. A Co. will then move to Ft. Gunpowder Falls in 2 GSA 15 pax vans(1 with trailer), 1 GSA 7 pax van and 1 NG 44 pax bus. Companycommanders will develop the chalks and all MSIV staff will move in 1 of the 15 pax vans. B Co. will move from Salisbury University to Ft.Gunpowder Falls in 1 GSA 15 pax van and 1 SU 15 pax van.MSIV Staff will act as “Training Cadre” for the entirety of this event andwill cycle through BN TOC duties IOT rest and eat. During training theywill be overseeing and in some cases evaluating. Select MSIVs will actas OICs for certain events to ensure training is being completed.Upon arrival companies will form up in the main parking area andawait further instructions from C/MAJ Miller. Cadets will then becombined into one “training company” consisting of two platoons withthree squads each. All training will be conducted in this trainingcompany throughout the duration of the exercise. Squads will thenmove through the BN TOC vic UJ 70326563 to receive ration cycles andother site issued equipment. After the entire company has movedthrough the supply issue the company will march to the Field Crafttraining site where they will be instructed on field hygiene, packing,wildlife, and bivouacking by MSG Kammer and C/CPT Carr. Thecompletion of that exercise will be the creation of a bivouac site by thecadets, and the rest plan will then take effect. A fire guard of twopeople will be maintained at all times IOT ensure personnel,equipment, and weapons accountability.Upon completion of the rest plan cadets will break down the bivouacsites eat chow and assemble to move to STX Training. MSIV Lanewalkers will march the cadets to the start of each STX lane. The STXtraining guide is located in Annex E-1. Upon completion of STX trainingthe cadets will move back to the BN TOC where weapons will be turnedin and there will be chow. Cadets will then receive instruction onprocedures for Night Land Navigation and be broken into groups. TheLand Navigation training guide is located in Annex E-2. Cadets whoreturn early will move to the gear and remain there to obtainaccountability. After all cadets have returned from the exercise, and allsensitive items are accounted for, they will move back to the bivouacsite and begin the rest plan, maintaining a minimum of 2 people on fireguard at all times.At the end of the rest plan cadets will again break down the bivouacsites, eat chow, and conduct any necessary personal hygiene. They willthen form up and be briefed on Day Land Navigation training accordingto the guide located in Annex E-2. Upon completion of the lanes andaccountability of all sensitive items, the company will then move to theFLRC & PMI lanes.
