SEC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEKNikki Fowler - Tennessee, OH, Jr., 6-2
Fowler was outstanding in all phases of the game this weekend,leading the Lady Vols to sweeps over both Mississippi State andAlabama with her eighth and ninth consecutive double-doubles.The 6-2 outside hitter was the team’s top offensive weapon, smashing out asquad-best 26 kills for an average of 4.33 per set, while hitting .302, with justseven errors in 63 swings. Fowler was also UT’s best defensive player, scoop-ing up a team-high 32 digs for an astounding average of 5.33 per set, in addi-tion to collecting five blocks in just six sets. Fowler was also Tennessee’sbest passer, handling all 42 serves that came her way. Against MississippiState, she led all players with 10 kills and 16 digs, while hitting a .364 clipwith just two errors in 22 attacks. Versus the Crimson Tide, she put forthanother stellar performance, delivering a match-high 16 kills with 16 moredigs, two blocks, a pair of assists and an ace. With her offensive output thisweekend, Fowler increased her career total to 1,125 to move past formerLady Vol Sarah Blum into 13th all-time on UT’s career kills chart.
SEC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEKBriAnne Sauer - Kentucky, L, Sr., 5-6
Sauer had a tremendous weekend for the Wildcats as she led theteam with an astounding 6.86 digs per set and four service aceson the weekend. With three aces against Alabama she matcheda career-high total for a single match. Against the Tide she had 25 digs andthen she scooped up 23 digs against Miss. St. With two matches of 20 ormore digs, Sauer has now tallied 25 career matches with 20 or more digs.Additionally, Sauer has tallied 429 digs for the season which is currently the10th most in a single season in UK history. She continues to increase hercareer total as she now sits just 17 shy of reaching 1,500 for her career.
SEC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEKJasmine Norton - Arkansas, OH, 5-10
Norton powered the Razorback offense with a career-high 29kills in a five-set loss Sunday to No. 19 LSU. She posted a .386hitting percentage (29-7-57) in the match. Norton tied hercareer high with 17 digs for her third double-double effort in as many match-es. Her 29-kill performance is her eighth match this season with 20 or morekills, and 11th consecutive match with double-digit kills. The 29 kills is alsoan SEC-high this season. Norton also had four service aces and tied a careerbest with six total blocks. For the week, she averaged 5.80 k/ps, 3.40 d/ps,1.20 b/ps and 7.40 p/ps. Norton is averaging 4.02 k/ps, 2.07 d/ps and 4.64p/ps this season.

ALABAMA Crimson Tide -
The Alabama volleyballteam lost a pair of matches last weekend dropping theCrimson Tide to 7-19 overall and 5-11 against confer-ence opponents. On Friday, Alabama came up shortas No. 11 Kentucky handed the Tide a 3-1 (25-11, 22-25, 25-12, 25-15) loss in Lexington. Junior Alyssa Meuth and senior BrooksWebster combined for 25 kills to pace the Alabama offense, whilefreshman Kelsey Anderson scooped up a team-best 20 digs. One of the biggest factors in the match was the serving game where theWildcats tallied seven service aces, and the Tide recorded 11 errors.Alabama finished the weekend in Knoxville falling by a 3-0 (25-20,25-19, 25-23) decision to Tennessee. Once again, Meuth paced theTide offense with 10 kills, while junior Kayla Schmidt recorded herninth double-double of the season with a team-high 19 digs and 15assists. Webster and Anderson also notched double-figure dig totalsin the match with 10 a piece. Next up, Alabama returns toTuscaloosa for its final home weekend of the 2009 season when ithosts Mississippi and Arkansas. The Tide faces off with the RebelsFriday, Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m. (CST) before taking on the Razorbacks,in a match to be aired on Fox Sports South, Sunday, Nov. 15 at 1:00p.m. (CST). Prior to Sunday's match, the senior class will also be rec-ognized for its contributions to the program.
ARKANSAS Razorbacks -
To begin the week, JasmineNorton was named SEC Freshman of the Week for thefourth time this season, the third player to earn thehonor four times in the same season since the incep-tion of the award in 2005. In its only match of theweek, the Razorback volleyball team lost a five-set match to No. 19LSU, 25-22, 27-25, 14-25, 21-25, 15-10, Sunday afternoon atBarnhill Arena. It was Arkansas’ second five setter in as many match-es at home. Norton led all players with a career-high 29 kills andequaled her career best with 17 digs to post a double-double perfor-mance. It was her eighth match this season with 20 or more kills, and11th consecutive match with double-digit kills. Norton also tied acareer mark with six total blocks. Lindsay Scanlan turned in a 55-assist, 14 dig effort against the Tigers, her fourth double-double in arow. The senior setter now has eight matches this season with at least50 assists. Kristin Seaton and Kelli Stipanovich added 13 and 10 kills,respectively, for the Razorbacks. Seaton picked up 10 digs, too, forher second double-double of the season. Sunday’s match was tele-vised by CSS, and Cox Sports in the Northwest Arkansas area. TheRazorbacks hit the road for a pair of matches next weekend atMississippi State and Alabama. The meeting with the Crimson Tidewill be broadcast by Fox Sports South at 1:30 p.m. (CT).
AUBURNTigers -
The Auburn volleyball squaddropped a pair of SEC road matches this weekend tofall to 14-12 overall and 6-9 in the SEC. The Tigers losta 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-21) match at South Carolinaon Friday evening. Junior Jonelle Wallace had a sea-son-best nine kills on the night, while classmate Morgan Johns fin-ished with eight kills. Libero Liz Crouch had a match-high 19 digsand freshman Sarah Bullock tallied 12 digs for Auburn. The Tigerstraveled to No.9 Florida on Sunday afternoon and dropped a 3-0match (15-25, 18-25, 13-25). Sophomore Kelly Fidero picked upnine kills and two service aces on the day, while Bullock finishedwith eight kills and eight digs for Auburn. Crouch added seven digsand classmate Sara Shanks had 16 assists. Auburn returns to theStudent Activities Center for two SEC matches next weekend. TheTigers take on Tennessee at 4 p.m. on Nov. 13 and then host No. 11Kentucky at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 15.
FLORIDA Gators -
The No. 9 Florida volleyball teamused a pair of 3-0 wins against Georgia and Auburnthis past weekend to improve its consecutive sweepstreak to eight matches, the team's longest such streaksince nine consecutive sweeps of Southeastern Conference oppo-nents during the 2007 campaign. The Gators improve to 20-3 over-all and 14-2 in league play. With Sunday's victory against Auburn,Florida has now charted 19 consecutive 20-plus-win seasons and 22in the history of the program. The Gators are averaging 32.1 wins perseason since Mary Wise was named head coach prior to the 1991campaign. On the weekend, sophomore outside hitter Kristy Jaeckelled the way for Florida offensively, averaging 3.50 kills per set on.435 hitting with 2.33 digs per set. Sophomore outside hitter KellyMurphy averaged a squad-best 7.83 assists per set to complementher team-high .556 hitting efficiency and 0.67 blocks per set. Seniorlibero Elyse Cusack turned in 22 digs over the course of the week-end to increase her career total to 1,980, which ranks third in SEChistory. On the season, Jaeckel leads the team with 3.20 kills per set,while Ward and Murphy follow with 3.16 and 3.11 kills per set,respectively. Murphy, the team's assists and hitting percentageleader, is the only player in the SEC to rank in the league's top 10 forhitting percentage, kills per set and assists per set, simultaneously.Wise has 598 wins in her Gator career and needs just two more toreach the 600-win plateau during her 19-year tenure at UF. Floridahas a lone match this week, playing host to No. 19 LSU at 7 p.m.Friday in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. That match will be tele-vised live on Sun Sports.
GEORGIA Bulldogs -
The Georgia Bulldogs hit theroad last week for a pair of Eastern Division matchesand finished the weekend 1-1. After falling to ninth-ranked Florida in Gainesville, the Bulldogs travel toColumbia, where they went to extra points in each seten route to shutting out the Gamecocks. In that victory, junior mid-dle hitter Valentina Gonzalez recorded a match-best 15 kills on aseason-high .650 hitting percentage. On the weekend, sophomoresetter Kathleen Gates recorded 60 kills to push her career assist totalto 2,051, making her just the seventh Bulldog in school history tosurpass the 2,000 career assist total. Meanwhile, junior outside hitterErika Clark tallied 14 digs this past weekend to raise her career digtotal to 983. With just 17 more assists, Clark will become only the16th player in Georgia history to reach 1,000 career digs. She will belooking to reach that milestone this weekend when Georgia playshost to its final two regular season home matches of the 2009 sea-son. On Friday, UGA welcomes Kentucky to the Ramsey StudentCenter, and on Sunday, Tennessee will visit Athens for a match thatwill be televised by CSS.
KENTUCKY Wildcats -
The 11th ranked Kentucky vol-leyball team continued to shine against SEC Westernfoes as it picked up a pair of wins over Alabama andMississippi State to improve to 24-2 and 14-1 in theSEC. Junior Lauren Rapp had an explosive weekendfor the Blue and White as she averaged 3.00 digs per set on a blaz-ing .513 attack percentage. Senior BriAnne Sauer tallied two match-es with 20 or more digs for the weekend to average an astounding6.86 digs per set. With the 48 digs this weekend Sauer currentlyholds the mark for the 10th most digs in a single season at UK with429. Kentucky will hit the road for its final two-match road swing thisweekend. UK takes on Georgia on Friday and then visits Auburn onSunday.
