Result Elections For Our Area
The people have voted, but have they all reallyvoted. It is amazing that we had such a smallturn out of voters. According to the facts Icould find, we have a total of 1,300 that canvote but had a mere 341 voters. That is a littleover 25% of the people coming to the poles tovote. I for one came out and voted and alsolisten or read what each candidate had to say.We the people do have the power of voice andvoting, but we have to exercise our right to beheard. Make a point in the future citizen tomake a voice, make a noise and vote. For if youdo not vote, you can not get upset at who is inthe office or what they do, for you have notmade a stand. I hope this does not upset myreaders, but I have a strong passion for this. Weall need to let our elected official from our town to our state to our nation know how wefeel. Make a point if you do not like something, drop a phone call, an email or a letter to your elected officials. Sitting on the side talking isnot heard and make sure to get out and vote.Well on to the results. Liberty’s new mayor isreturning Jim Parker from being a past mayor  before are current mayor stepping down JohnStanley. The vote count was 236 Parker, 69Larry Alexander and 9 write ins. For LibertyTown Council, the winners for the three seatswere Terry Caviness (287 votes), Tyson Nixon(207), and Shane Isley (196). The others on the ballot were Tracy Whatley (180) and JustinGaines (54). Just down the road was Staley. For Mayor , returning Mayor Karen Scottonwith 37 votes. In the race for five town com-missioner seats, incumbents Marlene Jones,Lori Lynn Langley-Hankins and Lib Marley
kept their seatswhile another incumbent, SteveRobbins, wastied with RichardDeGaetano andTommy Wil-liams. Accordingto Patsy Foscue, director of theRandolphCounty Board of Elections, thecandidates caneither call for arecount or face adrawing out of a pottery bowl for the final twoseats.

FALL LEAF COLLECTION

It's almost that time of the year again. We will begin removingleaves from the Right Of Wayon Monday, November 2nd.Please remember the followingrequests when disposing of your raked leaves: Have leavesin tight piles on the edge of thestreet by Monday Morning.Remember that the leaf vacmachine can only reach leavesright on the edge of the road-way. Don't mix limbs and looseleaves together. We use twodifferent pieces of equipment toremove each, and each isaccomplished on different daysof the week. Don't place any-thing in your leaf pile that coulddamage the leaf vaccum ma-chine. If you miss the leaf re-moval day (Monday) then bagthe leaves for removal later inthe week. Any leaves placed for removal "prior" to November 2nd, MUST be bagged.
Your  Public Works guys appreciate your help with these tasks. Many of us are your neighbors too!

A Rainy Day To Moonlit Night
Saturday October 24 started out as a rainyday, but the skies cleared and the moonshined bright for all that attended the secondannual Free Movie Night at Millstone Creek Orchard. Once again, the orchard opened itsdoors to the community. This year the moviewas “The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown”, provided by

newspaper. The orchard was elaborately decorated for the fall season with ghosts and witches, hay bales, pumpkins and chrysanthemums. The or-chard provided a hay ride for the little ones, asthey do each night in late October. The air was filled with the smell of fresh pop-corn which was provided by Tyson Nixon andBecky Canoy of Loflin Funeral Home of Lib-erty. There were booths set up by various local businesses: Randolph Telephone’s AarynSlakfy provided free balloons to all the kids and had their tram on handto shut-tle folks from the overflow parking area. There were free picturescourtesy of The Freedom Family Church of Liberty. Randolph Electric Membership pro-vided special lighting for everyone’ssafety. There was a free artwork area setup by Celebrate Liberty’s Children. Thenew chairwoman Jennifer Hodges anddirector Jennifer Beasley were on handand the little kids jumped at the chanceto show their artistic talents. The Byrd Isom family, who owns theorchard, did a great job of recreating ascene from days gone by. There weretire swings and a tree to climb, and theoverall event gave families a chance to put the hustle and bustle of everyday lifeaside for awhile and enjoy a wholesomenight together. There were plenty of smiles to go around and there’s a good chance memories were made for  both kids and adults. This is a yearly event at the orchard. The Isoms’son and daughter and their families come in from Florida and Kentucky to help duringthe fall season. If you have never visited the orchard youneed to. There are baked goods and applecider for sale. They grow blueberries, grapes, peaches, apples and the list goes on. Theyoffer family tours with hay rides and you canactually pick your own fresh produce. Ithank the orchard for opening their placeup to provide a free night for the commu-nity. We hope to see you at next year’sevent!
