Software Freedom Day
Software Freedom Day (SFD) is an annual worldwidecelebration of the free and open source software. SFD is a publiceducation effort, is used to celebrate the alleged virtues of free andopen source software. It encourages its use to benefit the public.Celebration is a form of awareness to the worldwide, a kindof promotional activity.Jaya FOSS Club was build up with the support of NationalResource Centre for Free and Open Source Software(NRCFOSS)and Indian Linux User Group, Chennai(ILUGC). SFD basically andevery third week of September Saturday, Software Freedom Day iscelebrated, worldwide. Jaya FOSS Club has also been very active inpromoting and making an effort to aware the surroundings about open source, likewise, SFD is also denoted as a very grand openingevery year in order to rejoice the freedom of the software.This is the first step towards SFD and the fulfilling process isstill on.The Jaya FOSS Club is driving the effort, but the event depends largely on the grass root activities of open sourcesoftware, advocates organizing small events at the local level.
