G’day again and greetings from Australia. Here are some hints and tips for viewingand converting the ipod video files available fromhttp://www.oprah.com/obc_classic/webcast/archive/archive_download.jspFirst of all if you want to view the downloadable video file directly on your pc youcan do so with a program called VLC media player, this is available for free downloadfromhttp://www.videolan.org A few of my friends haven’t got access to fast internet but I didn’t want them to missout on these valuable shows so I have found a program that will convert and save thevideo download on to DVD so they can watch it too!The software program is called DVD Flick and is available for download fromhttp://www.dvdflick.netthis is a free program but you can donate a small fee to thecreator of it if you feel you have benefited from it.To use the program simply download the program and install it on your PC. Whenyou have run it up from the top icons select “Project settings” this will bring up asmall window. On the left of this window select the “Video” option and make sure itis right for your country “NTSC” for the U.S. and “PAL” for places like Europe andAustralia (although most modern DVD players will play both). On the left of thiswindow select the “Burning” option and tick the “Burn project to disk” option (this isimportant to do because if you don’t you will have to repeat the whole long processagain) and ensure under the “drive selection” you have the drive selected that you burn DVD’s with. Now on the bottom right hand corner of the window select the“Accept” button, this will close that window and leaving just the original windowopen. On the right hand side select the “Add title” button, select the downloaded ipod videofile from Oprah's site and press the “Open” button.Insert a blank DVD in your drive and select the “Create DVD” from the top icons andoff you go!The process took my PC around 2 hours 15 minutes to convert files and burn theDVD, this might differ with you depending on how old your machine is. I would do itwhen you don’t have to use the machine for anything else, as it is fairly taxing on thecomputers main processor, slowing everything else down to a halt. The quality of the final conversion I have found to be excellent. One more thing, the program stores files in your “My Documents” folder, under the“DVD” folder. You can delete the files in here if they are taking up too much space onyour drive. Also you will need about 10 gigabytes of free hard disk space to do theconversion, so check that you have that before you start.May these shows reach everyone around the world who are ready for them.Warm regards
