Very informative but almost so much so that I think I'll find it hard to go back and reference when I need to. I found myself highlighting and bookmarking huge sections and wishing it was organized more as a reference guide so it would be easier to come back to these sections in the future. Overall a great, extensive overview of breastfeeding with tons of advice and historical/scientific data.

While I always keep my copies of The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding and The Breastfeeding Answer Book handy, this is so far my favorite basic lay-person's book on the normal course of breastfeeding. The author is to-the-point and provides enough information for readers to make their own informed decisions about breastfeeding and managing common breastfeeding challenges. If only the text had an index! Although the text itself is direct and straightforward, it can be aggravating to flip pages in search of that one paragraph you know you remember seeing, but can't find again.
