Psychometric Assessment Tools for Students and Graduates
This resource has been produced by the AGCAS Psychometric Assessment Task Group (PATG) as a way of summarising some of the key psychometric assessment tools available for HE Careers Services to use with students and graduates. The purpose of the assessment tools may be to practise graduate recruitment tests or for careers guidance and/or personal development. The assessments cover a range of areas including aptitude, personality and strengths and include both free and chargeable services.
Summary of assessment tools detailed in this resource
The table below shows a summary of the assessments currently detailed in this resource. It is not intended for this resource to be a marketing document, nor does it contain judgements about the assessment tools listed (users are encouraged to pursue these issues directly with the test publisher). However, all the test publishers included in the table below have presented one or more of their tests to the PATG group and provided materials to review and trial.

TEST APPLICATION(S): Practising recruitment tests Careers guidance/personal development tool BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF TEST/APPLICATION: Numerical, Verbal and Inductive Reasoning
Online access to 12 practice verbal, 12 numerical and 12 Inductive reasoning tests. The questions are regularly updated to reflect the latest tests used by employers. Two further sample tests of each type are freely available via the website. These practice tests have been designed to help students prepare for the psychometric tests used in recruitment. Students can simulate the styles of tests used by major test publishers and then review worked solutions to each question. AssessmentDay uses occupational psychologists from several different test publishers which means that our practice tests stay up to date and that they can be used to familiarise students with the range of numerical, verbal and inductive reasoning tests used by recruiters.
Situational Judgement
Online access to 4 practice situational judgement tests. One further sample test is freely available via the website. These practice situational judgement tests have been designed to help students prepare for the SJTs used in recruitment. Students can simulate taking different SJTs and then review worked solutions and guidance notes to each question. AssessmentDay uses chartered occupational psychologists with experience of designing SJTs for recruiters, so students are able to familiarise themselves with accurate examples of the tests used in recruitment.
In-Tray Exercise
Online access to 2 practice in-tray exercises. One further sample exercise is freely available via the website. These practice in-tray exercises have been designed to help students prepare for the in-tray exercises used in recruitment. Students can download and print example exercises, and review model answers to develop their understanding. AssessmentDay uses chartered occupational psychologists with experience of designing exercises for recruiters, so students are able to familiarise themselves with accurate examples of the exercises used in recruitment.
